New to Gig Salad!
I am a singer/songwriter piano player. I play originals and cover songs in my own unique New Orleans R&B style. My music has been described as Nora Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles meets Bonnie Raitt, Adele, and Alysha Keys. My repertoire of cover songs range from the 1920's up to current era songs.
Having recently moved to the Pacific Northwest from New Orleans, I offer a unique style that stands out from the Pacific Northwest crowd.

What to Expect
You can expect to hear me play primarily as a piano/singer solo artist, although I can put a duo or trio together if you like. My originals and covers are in the New Orleans R&B style i.e. jazz infused blues. My music plays best in listening rooms and small to medium gatherings with or without a stage. I can do concert venues solo or with a band and can play background piano (no vocals) music, also with a soulful New Orleans R&B twist.
About
The Philosophers Daughter's voice is an engaging dichotomy of sweet feminine sugar and raw smokey blues. She took classical piano lessons as a child; played and sang in church. She broke from family traditions, chasing her muse in search of her musical voice. From California to New York and from Cuba to France, she played with and learned from the masters of her craft, ultimately landing in New Orleans where the city’s unique R&B style was a perfect fit.
In New Orleans, under the name Heidijo Music, she performed in music venues on Frenchman, in the French Quarter, and around the city. Her gigs were solo on piano and vocals, in addition to performing as a duo with acclaimed musicians such as Tom McDermott, or playing piano and singing with her band consisting of Darryl White (Tab Benoit, Chris Thomas King, Peter Novelli) on drums, and Andy Page (Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Bustin' Jieber, Brungo Jowl) on saxophone.
Working with Louisiana producer/musician Zachary Wilson (The Universal Chrome, Zachary James, The Midnight Americans) She recorded her debut album, "Magazine St." at the Music Shed in New Orleans. Featuring members of Egg Yolk Jubilee, Jeremy Phipps (Saint Bell, Solange) and Michael Girardot (The Revivalists) on horns, as well as Keith Hajjar (Egg Yolk Jubilee, New Orleans Bingo Show!, The Universal Chrome) on drums and Zachary Wilson on back up vocals, bass, guitar and keys. Magazine St. straddles blues, jazz and rock, across nine original compositions.
In November of 2022, at the end of Covid and after a few hurricanes crippled New Orleans, she moved to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, in order to help take care of her aging mother. Music was set aside for over 1 year. She started doing solo gigs again towards the end of 2023, and is now performing roughly 1-3 gigs a week.
Additional Booking Notes
As a solo pianist I can bring everything needed for small and medium-sized rooms. Or, simply tie into a sound system if available, or if it's a large venue. The same as above for a duo or trio.
