The Story & The Song is about 400 pounds of man. Standing at a combined 11 and 1/2 feet tall, the dynamic duo will shock and amaze onlookers. Okay, but really we’re just two brothers who play music together. We both sing, I (Kyle) play guitar, and we harmonize like angels. Or at least that’s what our mom says. We have a great time entertaining people at corporate events, weddings, receptions, festivals, parties, restaurants, keggers, and even awkward events like slumber parties or campfires. All in all, we have our own sound system, we’re punctual, we’re easy to get along with, we're diverse (rock, country, rap, pop, etc), and people enjoy listening to us.
The Story and The Song were very professional during the entire process. They were prepared by providing the song list prior to the event and open to any special requests that we may have had. They sounded great and would definitely book them again for future events.
These guys were totally flexible. They brought their own sound. Played a great songlist of 90's music for our Class of 97 reunion. They also let us plug in our phones for some booty dancin'! I would book them again for any event. :)
Response from The Story and The Song:
Thanks Lloyd, we had an awesome time at the reunion! You did a great job setting everything up. This was definitely one of our favorites this year!
We enjoyed the "Story" . i waited until the last minute to find someone to provide music for my sons 18th Birthday party ,So only half the group could be here. The story was excellent, and fit right in, everyone enjoyed this talented mans music, my son said ,"he made the party perfect "
Response from The Story and The Song:
Thanks Deanna, had a great time at the party!
Kyle and Gary performed for a couple of hours at an event we hosted. Their talent was evident, and they also matched the mood of the event with their song selections and crowd interactions. We really appreciated having them and will consider them for future events.
The story and the song were so great and professional. Super chill keeping the Bride at ease and kept in contact to ensure happiness! So pleased by their business as well as their talent! Would totally book them again!

As a seasoned acoustic duo (or solo act, if you prefer), we've made booking gigs, setting up, tearing down, performing, and affordability an absolute breeze for everyone involved.
Setup/Tear down: We usually set up in 15-20 minutes. We can run 1 or 2 JBL speakers, we use a Mackie mixing board, and we have 2 vocals, 1 acoustic guitar, and a laptop or phone to play some tunes during breaks so we can avoid the awkward silence. All we need from the venue is one or two electrical outlets to plug our stuff in.
Performance: We've played on huge stages and in tiny corners of restaurants. Portability is big for us, so we can play wherever you need us to in as small or large a space as you need us to fill. We can play from 1 to 4 hours of diverse music (we do oldies, rock and roll, country, pop, and even a hip hop song or two every once in a while), and if you want us to learn any specific songs, we can do that as well. We can handle being the main event or playing background music, and we don't mind turning down if you think we're too loud.
Affordability: While we do consider our time to be valuable, we have fun playing music for people. Let us know what you're looking for, and I'm sure we can work out a price that's good for both of us. If you're on a tight budget, Kyle can play up to 3 hours of music solo, so there's a lot we can do to accommodate.

Okay, but really we’re just two brothers who play music together. We both sing, I play guitar, and we harmonize like angels. Or at least that’s what our mom says. We have a great time entertaining people all around the Memphis area, and we’re very easy to get along with. In fact, if you request a song, there’s a good chance we’ll try to learn it on the spot. Unless it’s vulgar or ridiculous, or we’ve never heard it. In that case, we’ll play something entirely different, claiming to know the song you’re talking about.
Example dialogue:
Patron or guest: “Do you know “Pour Some Sugar On Me”?
Us: “Of course I do!” ::begins to play “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias::
All in all, we have a great PA system, we’re punctual, we set up and tear down with the quickness, we’re easy to get along with, and people enjoy listening to us. We’re continually invited back to play at various places, and we have fun doing what we do. If you book us or come see us play, we’ll make sure you’re not disappointed.
As for the band name, aside from playing cover songs, we do write our own music from time to time. And when we write, we actually write about real things. We don’t write just to have a catchy song that people will remember, we write about actual things that affect our lives and that people can relate to. In other words, behind every song we write, there’s a story. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s sad, sometimes it’s happy and cute, and sometimes it just makes you think about things. Usually towards the end of the night, we’ll break into a VH1 “Storytellers” kind of set if that's your thing.
Oddly enough, we do have a pretty unique back story. You’d think that since we’re brothers, we would have played music together forever. But that’s not how things happened. Our parents separated about the time I started playing guitar. I stayed with my dad and Gary moved with my mom. So our musical endeavors stayed pretty separate for a while. We wrote a few songs here and there, but we were always busy with our “real bands”, so this idea didn’t really start to develop until January of 2013. We were doing an acoustic promotion with the guys at LocalX Radio in Memphis to get the word out about a big 2-day local music festival called the “Hometown Throwndown” that Gary booked, and my new band was opening up one of the nights. After I did a couple of songs, they asked if Gary and I had ever written any songs together. So we attempted to stumble our way through a song we wrote about 10 years ago, and a room full of people exploded into applause. We talked through some details and decided to start writing and practicing some cover songs, and it was the easiest thing either of us had ever done. We had a natural chemistry working together that really just motivated us to keep on going. So here we are a few months later playing gigs almost every week, writing, recording, and keeping things as simple as possible. There’s something about keeping things simple that people seem to like. The music industry is crowded with people who fake it with gimmicks, fancy light shows, and backing tracks. We just want to play music, drink a couple of beers, meet some new people, and then go home and go to bed. Take it for what it’s worth.
Like I said, we do have our own PA system, which can get loud enough for up to 500 people. The only thing required when you book us is a couple of electrical outlets or a generator so we can plug everything in.
