We're a local band who love to play old 40s and 50s Jazz/swing music! Our music is a great fit for a variety of events, and in the past we've played for fundraisers, restaurants, private parties, and music festivals. We also can play other genre's such as Bluegrass, Country, and Folk music upon request. Teak Porter is 16 year old award winning guitarist with experience as a solo artist, session musician, and guest in several different musical groups. We'd love to play whatever event you'll throw at us, hope to hear from you soon!
I heard them from a distance at first. As I got closer I realized it was live music and great jazz standards. I assumed it was a couple people my age (I’ve been playing jazz for 50 years) and was BLOWN away when I saw these two! They’re way young with the chops of seasoned pros - comfortable with standards and totally professional. The old Gibson arch top and the kitschy drum set up added to the ambience and to my amazement. Great music from great musicians!!!
I got to see these young men perform at an event at BOHO Farms in downtown Phoenix. I love that they were playing classic jazz and swing music.

here's a few things to know:
We play as a two piece group, but if needed we can try to add a 3rd person to the group.
We like to show up 15-20 minutes early to set up, sometimes more depending on what equipment we need to provide. once we get set up, we play our killer set of old school Jazz/Swing music for the allotted amount of time, then once we're finished we pack up and take off.
If a gig is exceeding an hour in length, we do expect a 10-15 minute break every hour. this gives us time to drink some water, sell our merchandise and use the restroom.
We have a small selection of items like T-shirts, coasters and other assorted things with our name on them. This helps us make a little extra cash and advertise our group. Should you wish for us not to sell our merch, or have special instructions about how we do so, please let us know.
We're your friendly neighborhood Jazz/Swing band here to satisfy your Jazz/Swing needs!
The perfect choice for your next event, we're a couple of friends who love playing the music of the 40s and 50s. the band members have played music professionally for several years, playing as guests in several bands, session musicians, music instructors and solo artists. typically we play as a two piece band, consisting of guitar, drums and vocals, but we're often joined by a guest musician or two! we'd love it if you'd hire us for your next event, especially since we already made awesome band T-shirts.
Thanks! -The Swingsets
We are capable of providing our own sound system, however we often charge a little extra depending on what exactly is needed. Should the venue provide it's own sound, we need 3 mics for vocals, guitar and snare, as well as 1-2 DI boxes for our standard 2 piece band set up. we don't have any specific needs for lighting or staging, just as long as we have space for the number of band members and instruments present.
We often add or take away songs from our setlist based on the type of event, songs we've learned or written, etc. But here's a handful of our favorite standard tunes from previous sets:
Blue Moon
Ain't Misbehavin'
Swingin' on a star
Smoke rings
Pennies from heaven
All of Me
Two sleepy people
If I had my way
My window faces the south
Blue skies
Made for Wesley
Minnie the Moocher
Making Believe
Rose of San Antone
Georgia on my mind
This group is mainly influenced by the artists of the 40s and 50s. artist's like The Mills Brothers, Fats Waller, Bing Crosby, Django Reindhart, amongst many others who are often covered or have had influence over the group. Over the years we've played a multitude of different types of music. Everything from Bluegrass, to Rock, to Country, and Worship music have influenced us as players and music lovers.
