The Wonder-Full Mark Twain

I generally arrive to an event one hour ahead of my scheduled performance time in order to get familiar with the space, confirm any details and get into costume. I bring everything I need to prepare with me so while a small private space to prepare is useful it is not necessary. My performance works best when I can integrate myself with the audience; if there is a stage I will likely leave it and engage guests directly. If there are tables I may even sit down and join them at moments. This casual approach allows my character to become incredibly accessible to guests and I have found it creates a more memorable experience for everyone. I may or may not have an assistant with me who will help me get into costume and possibly take photos during the event. Please let me know if this is a cause for concern as it is not mandatory. While my act is completely customizable-based on your needs-I generally devise a script ahead of time around the specific qualities of the guests, the events location and the occasion. I will create a personalized script for your event which weaves Mark Twain's unique humor and perspective with modern observations and analogies he might have made if he lived in the present time. I can also offer entertainment through storytelling either for adults of children and games if that suits your event.

Chad Stender is San Francisco Bay born performer, educator and craftsman who received a Bachelors Degree in Theater Arts from the University of California Santa Cruz and completed a year-long certificate program in Ensemble-Based Physical Theater from Dell' Arte International. He is a community-integrated, multi-media performer who works to take storytelling and performance beyond the Theater to the people who need it most; from the schools and parks of California to the rural hamlets of the Mississippi River Basin.
