I can’t say enough wonderful things about Mr. Akins! He responded to my plea for a bagpiper (for my father’s funeral) when no one else did. He was easy to work with and he charged a reasonable fee. He played everything we asked for and more! He very kindly agreed to play at the service and gravesite. Mr. Akins even played “Taps” for the military part of my father’s service. He was very professional and I’ll be forever grateful to him. The kindness he showed was much appreciated by the whole family. Thank you, Mr. Akins!

Tim was extremely responsive to my messages and helped me set up a dream come true birthday surprise for my husband. We had an outdoor party in our backyard at night and Tim came walking up out of the darkness playing the bagpipes and absolutely stunned my husband. It was perfect! He not only plays beautifully but he also worked in little bits of fascinating information about the pipes and some funny stories. It was a night none of us or our guests will ever forget. I highly recommend Tim!

We hired Tim for our cocktails & hors d'oeuvre hour before our wedding reception. He was very responsive to all communication leading up to the event, arrived early, and played and sang so well! Our guests were pleasantly surprised to have live entertainment during the social hour. We can't thank you enough for your part in our special day, Tim! We appreciate your professionalism, but that you also know how to entertain a crowd :)

Tim did a great job for a sad occasion. He empathized with the situation (mothers death) and was sensitive. We asked for one song to be played graveside. He offered and we accepted to play while thw casket was transported to the gravesite. He then played our requested song at the end of the service and then played from a distance while friends and family grieved. He was professional, on time, played well. Highly recommended.

What to Expect
My clients tell me that I am very easy to work with, flexible, and professional and fun.
I strive to make it easy for all of my clients no matter what type of event they’re planning.
Before the event, I can work directly with the client/or event planner. I’m happy to play a special request for service/ceremony or reception. If I don’t know it, and there is enough time, I will definitely try to learn it. Are there any songs that I shouldn’t play? That is good info to have.
On the day of the event, I arrive early to setup all my equipment and get any last minute direction or changes. If piping, I arrive in full Scottish regalia and usually pipe 20 minutes prior to service start time and 20 minutes or so immediately after the service. Wedding ceremonies also include bride’s processional and the couple’s recessional.
Keyboard option- I bring everything I need to do a performance and my fee includes one setup and breakdown. My performances are suitable for all ages. I also can perform at any volume. I may start off during cocktails with Frank Sinatra, and then play Great Balls of Fire later. I do not play rap or metal....sorry.
I don’t have any backing tracks except the drums..everything is live. So please call, text, message, email me today.
About
Playing piano is my passion! It has been my full time profession since 1984. No "weekend warrior"(part-time) musician here.
I am based in Southeast Georgia and have performed at many fine resorts:
The Cloister at Sea Island, Ritz Carlton and Omni Resorts on Amelia Island, Sawgrass Country Club, King and Prince Resort, Sea Palms Resort, and Jekyll Island Club Resort.
I served as a staff musician, providing keyboard/vocals, and bagpipes for the Cloister at Sea Island, from 1996 to 2004. I returned to being a free lance musician. I then served as the house pianist for the Jekyll Island Club from 2012- March 2020.
I continue to play private events and also play regularly at the Georgia Sea Grill on Saint Simons Island.
Additional Booking Notes
