T. Duncan Parker is a sought after vocalist, pianist, composer, arranger, performer and educator working in and around the Chicagoland area. He obtained his Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Composition and Theory with a Vocal Performance Certificate from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois. While at Elmhurst College, he performed with several vocal and instrumental groups including Late Night Blues -- Elmhurst’s award-winning vocal jazz ensemble, Elmhurst College Wind Ensemble (French horn), Elmhurst College Concert Choir and an Elmhurst College jazz combo as a jazz pianist. In February 2012, he was recognized as an Outstanding Jazz Vocalist at the nationally known Elmhurst College Jazz Festival and the University of North Carolina Jazz Festival.
In 2014, he began teaching Music Theory and Composition at Elmhurst College as an Adjunct Professor of Music. He holds a Masters Degree in Music Composition from DePaul University in Chicago, where he graduated with honors, was the Tenor Section Leader in the University Singers, and had multiple compositions performed during his studies by created student ensembles, the College Choir, and the new music ensemble, 20+, under the direction of Maestro Michael Lewanski.
T. Duncan Parker’s performing credits include five seasons with the Grant Park Chorus in Millennium Park under the direction of Christopher Bell, "A Christmas Carol" TV musical adaptation through PBS, Final Fantasy Distant Worlds Live under the direction of Arnie Roth, Final Fantasy Distant Worlds II recording ensemble member, a two-year member of the Lincoln Troubadours, (an acapella group that is commissioned through the National Park Service to perform period music at the Abraham Lincoln historic sites in Springfield) an eight-year actor on the stage of the Springfield Municipal Opera including lead roles in “Guys N’ Dolls” (Nicely-Nicely), “Jesus Christ Superstar” (Simon Peter), “High School Musical” (Troy Bolton/Ryan), “Grease” (Doody), “Into the Woods” (Jack), “The Civil War”, (Tell My Father/Union Soldier) and supporting/dancing roles in many other musicals including “Sweeney Todd” (Tobias) at Elmhurst College. For five summers, T. Duncan was the Music Director for the Springfield Theater Center’s PAVE Performing Arts Camp, and is currently the Director of Contemporary Worship and Music at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights.
In addition, T. Duncan Parker is a member of the highly acclaimed Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos company. He can currently be seen on the weekends as a dueling pianist playing weddings, corporate events, private parties, ticketed shows, and local bars. T. Duncan Parker’s enthusiasm for all aspects of music is apparent in his performances, his compositions and arrangements, and in his high-energy teaching style.
