I am a story-teller, poet, and spoken word artist. I speak on political and social topics. I enjoy performing with musicians and bands. I host three on-going open mics in the NJ area. I am an actor and the founder of the Don Evans Players Theater Group. Finally, I am a published author and the founder of the Kenneth Rodgers Cultural Book Fair.

Todd C. C. Evans aka Son of Black
In his youth, Todd has won a writing contest with Ebony Jr. Magazine. Much of Todd’s work reflects on music and the ups and downs of urban street life and modern day situations. He has co-written two songs on the Imani Record Label. Mr. Evans is featured on the Imani Label album entitled Live All Over the Place. His work has also been heard on Eadon’s (link hidden). Mr. Evans has published a short novel entitled, Staggerlee Booker T. and Me by FavorTwoU Publications. Todd’s latest books are entitled Mojo
His latest project is a poetry book that is entitled Momma’s Prayer that came out in this year. Mr. Evans has been featured in the Courier Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, Burlington County Times, and the Trenton Times.
Mr. Evans founded the Willingboro Open Mic and the Don Evans’ Players Theater Group in Willingboro, NJ. He founded the Heritage Cultural Book Fair, which is a traveling coalition of tri-state authors who sign and sell books collectively. He is the host for Classic’s Book Store, Capitol Area Open Mic, and the Burlington County College Open Mic. His poetry has been featured at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, Poetry in the Park, in Camden, NJ and the Underground Railroad, in Burlington City, NJ. Todd can be seen performing spoken word with the Captain Black’s Big Band. In February 2012, he was the winner of the Camden County Valentine’s Day Love Poem Contest at Poetry in the Park, Haddonfield, NJ.
Todd resides in southern New Jersey with his wife. He is the father of two sons although he has cared for three foster children. Mr. Evans has been a youth football, baseball and basketball coach for many years. He attended Morgan State University and is a graduate of B.C.C. and B.C.I.T. in South Jersey.
Mr. Evans can adapt to almost any situation when it comes to performing.
