“Country Music With An Edge”
The Tommy Crowder Band is a Birmingham-based, 5-member band that specializes in playing “country music with an edge”. Our style is similar to the hard rockin’new country artists like Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Billy Currington, Jamey Johnson, Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, Trace Adkins, and Blake Shelton. We also play plenty of the old country favorites such as Hank Jr, Merle, David Allan Coe and George Strait. Add a little ZZ Top, Skynyrd, Kentucky Headhunters, along with some Stevie Ray Vaughn and Allman Brothers, and TCB puts on a high-energy, boot-stompin’, ass-kickin’ show.

Tommy Crowder’s love for country music and all it represents brings an energetic and entertaining personality to the front of the stage. He grew up around Birmingham listening to Hank Jr., Merle Haggard, David Allan Coe and George Strait but he loves the edgy, hard-rockin’ styles of the new country artists like Jamey Johnson, Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley. Tommy has the experience and personality to keep the party rockin’. He has had the opportunity to work with several song writers and record some original songs. He also recorded several studio demos for other song writers. He has won several local awards for his vocal talent. Tommy can bring the memories back with country classics, swell up the pride with the southern rock anthems or rock the house all night with new country. Tommy is no stranger to the stage and one of his greatest satisfactions while performing is to watch the crowds having an awesome night while dancing and being entertained.
Jeff Dorough is a professional, accomplished musician who has studied and played the guitar most of his life. He began playing at age 16 while studying at Archer Guitar School. Jeff received his bachelors degree in music from UAB. He has played in several bands and genres such as the Champagne (jazz/R&B), Reminders (R&B), The Derelics (rock), Jimmy Guitar Allen (blues) as well as various country, jazz, and gospel groups throughout his career. He has played all over the southeastern U.S. as well as Carnegie Hall in NYC and in Los Angeles. Jeff has had the pleasure of being on stage with Lorie Morgan and Linda Evans. TCB is honored to have such a talented and humble guitarist and musical leader in Jeff Dorough who also provides background vocals.
Sam “Sammy” Pierce is an excellent musician and vocalist who started playing guitar at the age of 10 and by 14 he was in his first rock band. He toured with two professional gospel singing groups and recorded three albums during a 3-year period. Sammy spent more than three years on the road with the Robert Cunningham Review, an Elvis impersonator, playing shows and recording in and around Memphis. He has played in numerous bands such as RamPage, Southern Junction, Cruzin, Country Blend and Southern Country. While with Southern Junction Sammy had the privilege of opening for David Allan Coe, Kenny Chesney, Leroy Parnell, and Neal McCoy. He has enjoyed playing in the local clubs and Elks Lodges all over the state of Alabama throughout his career. Sammy shares the guitar duties and background vocals with Jeff. Their two different styles combined give The Tommy Crowder Band a versatile and distinctive sound.
Jeffery Singleton (Jeffery B) lays down the rhythm tracks on the bass guitar for TCB. An accomplished, self-taught bassist, in the 80’s Jeffrey played in the original southern Rock group, Rebel, who recorded “Down South in Alabama”. Recently he has played in local bands such as the Punishers, Blackleaf Junction and Ember. TCB’s “free spirit,” Jeffery B loves playing country music and being around great people and talented musicians. His style of playing takes TCB’s sound to an entirely different level than most bands out in the market. Jeffrey B loves the music, loves the drive of the bass, loves the crowd and loves bringing that energy to the people.
Don Hecklinski received his first drum set when he was 10 years old and played in several wedding and rock bands in his high school and college years. After college, marriage, and children he put the drums away for a several years. Five years ago he began studying under Russ Maddox at the Birmingham School of Music. It didn’t take Don long to rediscover his love and passion for making great music. He joined MidNight Train (blues) in 2008 and Crime Scene (classic rock) in 2009. The opportunity to play with outstanding musicians and people like Tommy, Jeff, Sammy and Jeffery B. attracted him to TCB. He is the backbone and heartbeat of the Tommy Crowder Band.
