With an average of fifteen years experience performing live, the members of Treble Attack take to the stage with a calmness, conviction and intensity that is captivating to watch. Whether it's a fundraising campaign, an outdoor event, or a live music venue, this stripped-down three-piece of drums, bass and guitar command the presence of a larger band, drawing audiences young and old under their soulful, reggae-rock spell.
Performing strictly original compositions, Treble Attack showcases their edgy style with ten songs that explore both the introspective and the social. Their dynamic one hour set moves fluently through their well-crafted catalogue, all the while engaging audiences with interesting anecdotes about the songs and the band members.
Like their musical role-models - The Clash, Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, UB40 - their vocal harmonies and soulful leads deliver a message that is timeless and upbeat, rebellious and punchy. Lead singer and bassist, Tony Treble, impresses audiences with his powerful vocal delivery that is Marvin Gaye meets Bob Marley, gutsy and smooth.
Behind the scenes, Tony Treble and his mates - Jason Marshall on drums and Roland Small on guitar, share a commitment to being positive role models in the music industry for future aspiring musicians of color. Subdued and reserved, their professional demeanor with staff and guests makes them welcome guests at any function who reflect well on their patrons.
"Sell your possessions, cast away your useless trinkets..." These are the lyrics of a band on a mission to music that matters. They call themselves Treble Attack, a trio of self-proclaimed "afro-punks" from Toronto, Canada, and they are building an army of “treble-heads” on their musical crusade to mash up Babylon with music!
Since the 2014 release of their self-produced 5-song EP, Uh Oh, Here Comes Treble, band members Tony Treble(bass/lead vocals), Roland Small (guitar) and Jason Marshall (drums) have been captivating audiences of disaffected youth with their stripped-down, funky,riff-laden reggae-rock. Reminiscent of their 80's influences - UB40, early Police, Bob Marley, The Clash - their songs explore the introspective and the socially-relevant, reflecting the band's determination to make music that is both meaningful in content and entertaining.
After graduating from the University of Toronto with his BA in English, songwriter Tony Treble worked the local music scene supporting other acts and fronting his own band while honing his skills as a bass player. Years of frustration with dead-end jobs led him to pursue his musical aspirations of forming a reggae power-trio. Shortly after forming in 2012, Treble Attack began performing local venues and appearing on popular local reggae programs such as CHRY's Rebel Vibez, CIUT's Reggae Riddims and RegentRadio's Rebel Music.
Recently, the band’s single Can’t Stand Lovin’ You has been gaining impressive momentum with fans of reggae and rock, climbing prominently on Numberonemusic’s local and global charts. Their self-produced video was launched on Youtube in February 2015 and continues to draw interest from music lovers looking for a change! Armed with new songs, Treble Attack is currently preparing to record their first full-length album. The concept album, helmed by local producer Johnny Simmen of A Stare Away Productions in Toronto, is tentatively called Helta-Skelta and promises to expand on their unique sound with a live-off-the-floor feel.
