Trip the Light will give you the kind of performance to either set an ambiance for your event, to get your party started or to move your audience through art. Our dancers are professionals and perform and interact in such a way.
Trip the Light is a professional dance company comprised of artists based out of Calgary, Alberta. Dancers can be hired in solos, duets or groups. Trip the Light has set repertoire as well as the option to create original dances (performance length negotiable) for the event. Trip the Light dancers are all professionally trained at universities or in professional training programs and bring this expertise to their craft. Our dancers are able to perform contemporary dance, jazz, ballet, tap, folk, urban/street style, etc.
BIO: Natalka Lewis - Artistic Director, Performer, Choreographer
Natalka Lewis is a model and dance artist based out of Calgary, Alberta. A graduate of the University of Calgary’s BA dance program and the School of Alberta Ballet’s BA Ballet Certificate Program, Natalka holds her Associate teaching certification with the Cecchetti Ballet Society of Canada. Natalka’s dance career has taken her across Canada to train and perform in many cities including Vancouver at Harbour Dance Center and the Working Class as well in as Edmonton with Good Women Dance Society. She has trained with renowned choreographers/dancers such as Davida Monk, Aram Manukyan, Melissa Monteros, Tania Alvarado, Beniot Swan Pouffer, Wen Wei Wang, Noam Gagnon, Peggy Baker and Marc Boivin amongst others. Natalka is currently a freelance dancer/choreographer and model and is also the founder and Artistic Director of Trip the Light Dance and Performance Company. Professional performance credits include Momentum Dance Collective, 49th Parallel Dance Company, High Performance Rodeo, La Caravan, Soulocentric, NextFest, Convergence (Good Women Dance Collective) and Ignite. Natalka has modelled in Calgary for Dee Fontans, Calgary's Clothing Swap, Aveda Institute, Citrus Photography, For the Love of Fabrics, and Kevin Stenhouse among many others.
We will always need a clear stage area to dance on. We are flexible with dancing on unconventional dance floors but they must be at least 20 X 20 and safety cleared. We often dance in bare feet.
