What to Expect
We have been professional musicians for most of our lives. We show up on time, dress appropriately (from casual to tuxedos) and deliver sophisticated, fun music that suits the occasion. We perform as a duo with keyboard, trumpet, vocals, flugelhorn, percussion with backing tracks, but we can also add musicians to perform as a trio, quartet or quintet.
We play a listenable mix of groove-oriented music including classic jazz, smooth jazz, pop, funk and blues. We are comfortable playing a variety of moods, from quiet background music to jazzy pop to up-beat and danceable.
We provide a complete sound system that can be used for announcements, speeches and playing recorded music during band breaks. Our fee varies based on travel time, length of the gig and extra musicians.
About
Eric and Jim have been performing together for years in groups such as the Persuaders, Funk Master General and others. They decided to form a duo, which small format allows them to play the music they love.
Eric
After studying trumpet at the Peabody Conservatory, Eric played in more than a dozen Baltimore and Washington bands in a range of styles, including rock, pop, funk, blues, jazz and klezmer. He has performed with the Julius Hemphill Big Band, opened for the Beach Boys, played several presidential inaugural parties, and has been a member of Carl Grubbs’ Baltimore Jazz Workshop, Funk Master General, Charm City Klezmer, Majestics, Jazz Caravan, among others.
Jim
A teacher at Bill’s Music for 25 years, Jim studied music at Purdue University and has performed with blues greats Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy and Albert Collins. Jim’s funky New Orleans piano powered Fat Tuesday and alternative rocker Root Boy Slim, as well as other popular Baltimore bands, such as the James Offie Band, Persuaders, Olde Skool and Bossa Brothers. He runs Bay City Studio.
