About
Me'Shorn T Floyd Daniels, author of "I Am Not Your Black, America," traces his transformative journey from a troubled youth in Miami to a retired army senior noncommissioned officer. Born in 1961, Me'Shorn is the oldest of his mother's children. Recognizing her failure in guiding him, his mother, inspired by the belief that military service shapes boys into men, withdrew him from high school. At 18 in 1978, he enlisted in the Army, initially as a cook, and later retrained as an operating room surgical technologist.
Throughout his military career, Me'Shorn traveled to various locations, including West Germany, where he earned accolades as a first responder to mass casualties. His service, spanning 21 years, played a pivotal role in his transformation from a distrusting and isolated teenager to a responsible and trusting man. After retiring to Louisville, Kentucky, he fulfilled his promise to break the cycle of dysfunction in his upbringing.
Me'Shorn's involvement in the community and the adoption and influence on two successful children are testaments to his commitment to positive change. His military service not only shaped his career but also challenged his preconceptions about Black identity. Post-service, he questioned the narrative surrounding American Slave ancestors, discovering the industrialization and breeding of slaves and challenging labels like "African-American" and "Negro."
During the COVID crisis, Me'Shorn wrote "I Am Not Your Black, America!" to share his findings and challenge societal constructs. Overcoming dyslexia and academic disinterest with the help of a writing coach, he published the book in 2023. The book aims to enlighten the dominant culture about the color construct in America, promoting the idea that all humanity is equal. Me'Shorn also initiated the "God’s Lives Matter" movement, urging society to unlearn past misunderstandings and embrace a new self-identity, fulfilling Dr. King's dream of leading by character, not color.
