Ungifted Amateurs is a 4-piece rock band guaranteed to deliver an unforgettable experience. Do we need to be loud? We’re grunge. Do we need to be groovy? We’re fusion. Endless jams, self-indulgent solos, and other musical mud are nowhere to be found. Succinct songwriting is front and center. Nothing is more important than the song; we serve the song and our mantra feeds the music.

A weird coupla words: Ungifted and Amateurs.
They appear redundant. idle. self derogatory. ironic ad nauseam… and maybe that’s right…
But they are accurate.
While the contrary statement, “gifted professionals”, may boost the ego, it fails to paint the picture. A message is seldom gifted. Anyone can sing hearsay, but those words fall onto songs like finishing salts. Their fleeting taste engages but lacks genuine follow-through. Embodying a mantra requires perspective, which isn't gifted without fumble or folly.
Professionals are established. And we aren’t. But we will be.
The Ungifted Amateurs are composed of two pairs of brothers: the kinship between the Zug Brothers Alex and Jacob, and the less likely brotherhood of Anthony and Christopher. Formed in Nashville, TN but primed in Philly, PA, this foursome flocked to music city in disparate pairs each looking to express their musical mantras. Chance brought them together but that’s how amateurs create: they aren’t fabricated, designed, or contrived. They are conceived in the off chance.
The joyful noise made by these brothers can be summed up as rock. Do we need to be quiet? We’re soft rock.
Ungifted Amateurs represent the f ups, the f up, the round two, the second act. Betterment, progress, and the “steps along the way” are at the core of our songwriting. And as we are to one another, we can be your brothers in arms too.
