We were so excited to bring Ariana back for another great event for our Members. We had such a great experience working with her previously and loved the idea of bringing her band on board for our Holiday Party. The band did everything from cocktail hour, to an acoustic set over dinner before finally rocking the stage for the party. They came to play, ready with their set of 70's Disco hits (and more!) and we've never seen the dancefloor as packed as it was last night. Kudos to Uptown on an amazing evening and providing high quality entertainment for our guests to dance the night away to.

We had such a great time with Uptown. We had a Back to the Future themed event, and they worked with us with a great mix of 80's and 50's hits. They were high energy right from the start. They interacted well with the crowd, and got us on our feet dancing. I would highly recommend and definitely work with them again. Loved it!
I first saw Uptown when I attended the Chamber of Commerce annual ball and was blown away by their energy and amazing vocals. They aren't just singers, they're PERFORMERS! Everything from the costumes, to the choreography and stage presence had the dance floor packed at this event. I left there telling myself I couldn't wait to hire them to perform at one of my events.
Fast forward a few months to November 2022, we hired Uptown to perform at a fundraising event for the non-profit I work for. To no surprise, they were a huge hit with our attendees and put on an amazing show. They were so easy to work with and extremely professional, and were willing to "roll with the punches" when changes in the program called for some flexibility.
We had them again this past weekend for another event, and they blew us out of the water once more. Our program (for once) ran early and they were quick to adapt and get back on stage even though they weren't due to perform for another half-hour. They performed amazingly, our guests thoroughly enjoyed them, and they were a huge part of making the whole event a success.
I would HIGHLY recommend Uptown for any event where you want to wow your guests. We will definitely be hiring them again and look forward to working with them more in the future.

I worked with Uptown Entertainment for a mutual client's Wedding in July of 2021, and was consistently blown away by their talents and professionalism on site.
Their Team worked hard with us through the Dinner Reception as we navigated a last minute slideshow, additional speeches, a surprise Flash-mob, and all through exceptionally warm weather with a smile on their face the whole time. It was never a problem to ask for more, and they were happy just to do it so our couple could celebrate their big day.
As if that wasn't enough, their Five-piece Dance band kept everyone on the dancefloor for a great portion of the night, and their two lead vocalists were AMAZING! They interacted with the group, and made sure to keep the clients' guests dancing all night. Their lighting set up was fantastic, and looked great under our clearspan tent!
It was an absolute pleasure working (& rocking) with Uptown, and I can't wait to see them at the next event!

We hired Uptown to play at our wedding and they MADE the party! They are high energy and play hit after hit. They sound great and look even better. There is nothing they can’t play – the songs ranged from country to pop to rock, classic and contemporary, and our guests danced the entire time. Everyone raved about the band – they had never seen anything like Uptown. Mike was very responsive with e-mails when planning and they were very accommodating to us. They even sang Happy Birthday to our little nephew, inviting him and his sister up on stage to sing along. They were easy-going and just very pleasant to deal with. Uptown 780 was a great hit at our wedding! We are very glad we chose them. We received lots of compliments from our guests and thoroughly enjoyed them ourselves. Great musicians and performers! My only thing was that the band required refreshments or a meal, so we paid dinner for them and reminded them about it a few days before the event. However, they did not stay for dinner so the food was wasted unfortunately.

We hired Uptown for our 30th Anniversary of Inclusive Education celebration. The band was fantastic! The dance floor was crowded from the very first song. This is a fun high energy band, great music, great vocalists and musicians and the nicest people. They know all the popular songs and can play anything from Abba to Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson. They were extremely accommodating, calling out prizes etc. and really know how to work a crowd. Everyone had a wonderful time and were up dancing including people in wheelchairs. From start to finish, Uptown knows how to work a crowd. The dance floor at our wedding was packed for the entirety of their sets. We got so many compliments on the band from our guests even days after the event. We hired uptown for a graduation party that took place yesterday and everyone loved it! The girls were very interactive with the crowd and didn't mind the balloons coming on stage! We hired Uptown as our wedding band because we wanted something more original than a lame DJ. Uptown proved to be just what we needed! A very uptempo and high energy group of musicians who are amazingly talented. You could really tell that they loved performing and were having so much fun on stage. My friends and I had the privilege of watching Uptown perform at Edmonton’s On the Rocks over the weekend. The range of music that they performed varied from today’s hits to music from the 70’s, so there was always something for everyone. Uptown recently played at our school fundraiser for diabetes. In fact, this is the second year in a row that they have played for us. The fundraiser has generated close to $15 000 raised by students in grades 4-6. Having Uptown on our program has certainly helped in not only getting more students involved (they heard how awesome the band was from other students), but in raising even more money for our event.
Instrumentally, the band sizzles. Lead guitar, bass guitar, and percussion create a steady beat with moments of tasteful solos which gives the band permission for take-off! The band is fronted by two female vocalists with great pipes. The advantage of having two strong vocalists is having more of a variety in the songs they play in their sets. They chose songs for their audience: Katy Parry's "Roar", Demi Lovato's "Titanium", Daft Punk's "Get Lucky", Taio Cruz's "Dynamite", and Bruno Mars' "Treasure." Since there were a few old foggies around, the band played Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" and Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." The band certainly knows how to get their audience up and dancing. We all had a blast! So thank you, Uptown, for donating your time and talents in making our event such a memorable one. I can hardly wait til next year!

Working with the folks from Uptown was the most stress-free, enjoyable experience. Despite changing our set list several times and asking them to increase their workload, the band was friendly, enthusiastic and an absolute joy to be around. Uptown played at a small intimate Christmas party for 50 people. They had the crowd dancing and singing along for the entire evening. Truly a great band, we were sorry when the night ended. I highly recommend them!
We just had Uptown play at our holiday party and had wonderful response from our guests on the band. Our party was for a younger crowd, mostly early 20s, and Uptown did a fabulous job of playing covers of today's top hits. The dance floor was never empty!! Extremely professional, talented, flexible band. We were looking for a 50s band, and only had 3 weeks to do so. After I contacted Uptown and explained our situation, they were so friendly and obliging that although their repertoire only included 1970s+ tunes, they agreed to learn almost an hours worth of 50s songs to help us make our 50s theme a success. They sounded phenomenal, with great sound equipment, tight vocals, beautiful harmonies and great musicianship. All of these musicians and top notch. No exaggeration. I heard praise for the band all night from every attendee I spoke to. They came early, and willingly stayed for an extra couple songs because eveyone wanted them to keep playing. They even let us throw a dance competition into their set, and interacted perfectly with the audience. They were all extremely friendly and pleasant, and kept 100% to a very professional contract, even with specific requests to avoid any songs with profanity, innuendo and drug/alcohol references. We couldn't have been more pleased, and everyone agreed it was either the best dance they'd been to in years, or the best dance they'd ever been to. Hire this band!
Our non profit is planning a fundraising event that will include a live band as part of the experience and that led us to checking out aome band options. So on a Sunday night my husband and I headed out to see Uptown, planning to stay for just one set. But what we got was a talented and entertaining and fun band that surprised us so much that we stayed till through all three sets just because we enjoyed it that much. With a mix of genres and timelines of music ... there isn't a demographic that can't have a good time dancing or listening to this band. Can't wait to have them perform at our event!

The Vendor (Uptown) agrees to provide:
1. A vocalist(s)/guitarist/bassist/drummer band.
2. The band generally plays three sets of music, for 50 minutes each and 20-30 minute breaks. This timing is flexible based on the needs of the occasion.
3. Set-up of musical equipment: Setup can begin as early as 10 hours before the performance at the discretion of the Customer. All equipment will be set by thirty minutes before performance time.
4. Sound equipment: powered speakers, in-ear monitors, mixing console, powered sub woofers, microphones, cables, instruments and amplifiers.
5. Teardown of musical equipment: All equipment will be cleared from the venue by one and a half hours after the performance.
Who are these talented musicians and singers? What kind of experience do they have on stage?
Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Ariana Whitlow has entertained audiences around the world as a singer, actor and dancer. She has shared the stage with legends David Foster, Chaka Khan, Brett Kissell...even Wayne Gretzky and the Stanley Cup! She started her career touring with the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers and is a graduate of Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Since graduating, Ariana has cruised around the world with Royal Caribbean International as a featured entertainer in their acclaimed production shows. Most recently, she starred as Annette in an international tour of Saturday Night Fever, regularly performs across western Canada with the Gary Cable Project and has been a featured vocalist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
Erika Noot is a 2006 graduate of the MacEwan Theatre Arts program. Her most recent theatre credit was her role as Mary Lane in the musical “Reefer Madness.” This production received 5 stars with the Edmonton Journal and was held over during the Edmonton Fringe Festival 2012. Erika also arranges her own concerts, cabarets, and coffee house performances; such as, “Dreaming Wide Awake,” and “House of Cabaret.” In 2011 Erika co-founded Spotlight Studios, a company that trains aspiring singers to become versatile vocalists and performers. This past Christmas, Erika performed with “The Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree”, singing a duet and choreographing the Children’s Choir number. In 2007, Erika was a lead vocalist for Royal Caribbean Cruise-lines. Some of Erika’s other theatre credits include; Carla Albanese in “Nine,” Roxy in “Chicago,” Lead Vocalist in “Edges: A Song Cycle,” and Grace Farell in “Annie.”
Thomas Muench started drumming at age 11, and formed his first band at the tender age of 15. This band rocked hard for 16 years together! Thomas has played in Air Base big bands and loves jazz, swing and blues. He's toured throughout Europe and played for several studio recordings too. Thomas continues to play in Canada with several great musicians in various bands. Altogether he's played well over 1000 gigs.
Mike Lastiwka has performed in front of audiences of up to 4000 people as a member of the indie rock band “Cassidy” and various other projects including a Neil Diamond Tribute Band (hair and sequins included). He is an incredibly versatile guitarist, handling any style or genre. His playing is never over-powering, just the right touch of 6-string texture. Mike has also been known to pull out a concert accordion on stage…
Neil Birch is a versatile multi-instrumentalist who has been passionate about music since childhood. He is a self-taught bassist, with over 20 years of experience supporting rock, blues and funk acts, and is a veteran piano player focused on jazz and blues improvisation. Neil is also a long-time choral singer who writes and records his own music.
The Customer agrees to provide:
1. A non-refundable deposit of 50% to reserve the date.
2. The remaining balance owing by cash or certified cheque must be made on the date of the performance.
3. Communication regarding any changes in timing, performance parameters, requested music, etc.
4. A four hour set-up/sound check window, preferably with no guests in attendance.
5. An elevated stage with a minimum 20 feet by 16 feet size.
6. A minimum of 3X 15 amp 110V electrical outlets within 25 feet of the band.
7. Storage space for cases, gear, etc.
8. The band does require a meal for evening events.
9. Band rider is: A private “Green Room” or area for band warm-ups, pre-show preparations and band breaks. Bottled water, coffee, tea, cola, light snacks.
10. Parking for 5 vehicles in the Greater Edmonton Region. Heated indoor parking for a 1 ton truck and trailer and 2nd vehicle at no additional cost if outside the Greater Edmonton Region.
11. For events outside of the Edmonton region, one night hotel accommodation for 6 people (3 rooms).
