Dexter Porter is a jazz vocalist originally from Georgia and is presently living in NJ.
At the urging of friends, Porter changed his focus from a career in musical theater and television in the city of New York, to a career as a jazz vocalist.
Dexter began with pianist David Marck to develop a repertoire of standards to perform in such notable nightclubs as Windows on the World Restaurant, Birdland Jazz Club, The Triad, and at Nell's.
Also, Porter has performed privately for Barbra Walters, Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Liz Smith, Regis Philbin, Starr Jones, and many other celebrities.
Dexter was spectacular as he performed for the members of the Saddle River Valley Residents Club, a private social club. The event took place at a member's home in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Dexter was dressed in a tuxedo, always a class act!

The first time that I had the privilege of hearing Dexter sing was at a Minton's in NYC on 8/3/15 at brunch with w/Saddle River Resident's Club. I was very taken by his smooth voice and stage presence and I was excited when he then later performed in a private show for our club in one of our member's homes in 2017. He is a class act and an excellent performer.

Dexter Porter has been singing jazz for years. He has a crooner style at times, and at other times, he is an exceptional jazz artist. He is a delight to work with. Dexter is a genuine good man through and through. We asked him to be the entertainment at our multi-year class Reunion (which happened to also encompass his own class!) Now if that isn't "pressure" what is? He did a phenomenal job! I was in awe of his rich, soothing voice and professionalism. He sang during our meal and it was one of those rare moments when well-sung, soft jazz in the background helped to calm the audience as we settled into reuniting with old friends and meeting new ones. If he would be so gracious to come back, we would be honored to have a repeat performance at our next Reunion. Dexter, you make us so proud! Go NHS Eagles, class of 81!

My husband and I hired Dexter to sing at our intimate wedding reception in NYC. In conclusion, he has always been influenced by the vocal stylings of Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Barbra Streisand, who are in their own rights, true examples of classic american performing artists.
