Shandreia arrived on time with her assistant and was very professional in setting up for the event. I played my film from my personal computer and the audio worked perfectly through Bluetooth. Unfortunately, I was under the impression that we could start the film at dusk. The webpage even shows a film being visible while not being completely dark. The projector was unable to display my film until it was completely dark outside and so my audience sat for over an hour, waiting. Also, unfortunately, the popcorn machine was broken for my event, so I was unable to at least give my audience a snack while they waited. It became late and too cold, so most of the people left before the film finished, which was very disappointing. I spent a total of $500 (including renting the park) for this event out of my own pocket, so I had certainly hoped for a better outcome. Shandreia did refund me $50 for the broken popcorn machine .

We apologize for your experience. Unfortunately, due to the location you selected for the set up and the sun shining directly on the stage, our projector was not able to reflect onto the screen, which was not in our control.
Our 2000 lumen and 7000 lumen projectors have the ability to project in dusk settings or in shaded areas, this venue did not provide a conducive environment for us to do that. While there, we made every attempt to relocate the screen out of the sun and to try to get the correct shading. The popcorn machine was broken during transit and unfortunately our other machine was out on a rental and we did not have a back up for that day, which I apologized for that as well.
We never like to see our movie night client's unhappy with their movie night experience and we apologize that the direct sunlight prohibited us from starting your film on time. Hopefully, you will allow us another opportunity to service your event in the future so that we can provide you with excellent service.

Rental time is for one full length movie, about 3 hours. For best results, movie should be shown at dusk or dark. Screen size is 20 ft. wide x 13 1/2 ft. high x 8 ft. deep. You will need a space of 20 ft. x 8 ft. or more to accommodate the screen.
Q: Do I need a license to play a movie?
A: For a detailed explanation of licensure, please CLICK HERE. Generally speaking, if you are showing a movie in your backyard for a small group of family or friends, licensing is not necessary. If you are planning a movie event for a large audience such as a school, apartment complex, church or other type of business, we HIGHLY recommend you go through the proper channels to secure a license to show your movie. Q: For Public Performances, do I have to obtain my own license?
A: Yes. WhimsiCo Events is not responsible for movie selections, licensing, or clearances for your event. In order to obtain the necessary license and clearance for your event, please review the film licensing page for more information.
Q: What is the best time of day for a movie night?
A: For the best results, outdoor movies should be shown at dusk or dawn. For indoor movies, the location should be held dark room that has the capacity to accommodate the screen size and audience.
Q: How long is a movie night party rental?
A: Rental times is typically for one full length movie, about 3.5-4 hours.
Q: How big is the movie screen?
A: Screen size is based on your package selection.
Q: What time will you arrive to setup my outdoor movie?
A: We will arrive approximately 1 to 2 hours prior to your scheduled movie start time. We will have music playing as your guests arrive.
Q: What if the weather does not cooperate?
A: For your convenience, in the event of inclement weather, you have the option to reschedule your outdoor event within 30 days of your original event. If the technician arrives on site and bad weather moves in, there will be a labor charge of $25 per hour to postpone your event for that day. Please note, we can setup equipment with winds of up to 15 mph. However, for the safety of you, your guests and our technical staff, screens will be immediately deflated and electronic equipment covered and/or moved when winds exceed 20 miles per hour or it begins to rain steadily. If your movie is playing and has passed the halfway mark, no make-up date will be offered. Because of the precariousness of our Atlanta weather, we do our best to accommodate postponements this is why we advise that you check the weather the week of your event, the day before your event and the day of the event.
Q: Can my movie be moved indoors?
A: If you have the space to accommodate the screen size (20ft W. x 13 1/2ft H x 8ft D or larger screens) and access to a power source, we can easily setup your screen in a covered indoor space should weather be a concern. Let your technician know prior to arrival so that he/she can provide weights to properly secure the screen.
Q: What kind of power is required?
A: Our 20 ft screen will require a minimum of two separate outlets.
Q: What if we do not have access to a wall outlet for power?
A: We do not supply generators, however most local home improvement stores provide them inexpensively.
Q: How long do we get to keep the screen and equipment?
A: Our typical rental period is 3.5 to 4 hours, including setup, movie playing time and breakdown following the event. Should you want to show more than one movie, there will be an additional labor charge of $25.00 per hour.
Q: Can I show a movie during the daytime?
A: Not with traditional movie equipment--our projectors require dark conditions for optimum viewing.
Q: What if I want to show the movie in a pool area with limited space?
A: We offer many screen options including rear projection screens and short throw projectors that can be used in smaller spaces.
Q: What type of format is needed for a movie?
A: Projectors can be connected with HDMI cords, laptops, smart phones, firesticks, etc. We can also provide a DVD player, however request must be made at booking.
Q: Will the screens or equipment damage the grass?
A: Because the weight is equally distributed over a large surface area, even our larger screens will not damage or leave ruts in your grass.
