Willis is a talented and dynamic speaker who can touch on many social and political issues spanning from race relations and civil rights, to voter engagement, economic justice and Presidential politics/history. He can also use political and cultural history to motivate groups large and small to achieve their goals.
Willis Gordon is an author, essayist, activist, and veteran of the War on Terror. Gordon is committed to the improvement of our communities through education, action, and inclusion. He produced and organized the “Rock the Block” voter registration/education concert in 2016, and continues to register voters across Stark County and the greater Ohio area. He has canvassed, advised, or Field Organized in 4 presidential elections and countless local elections. He is currently the chairman of Political Education and Outreach, Communications and Community Engagement, Press and Publicity, and Veterans Affairs for the Stark County NAACP.
He is the author of two short story collections as well as the syndicated column “The Road Forward” featuring in Unlikely Stories and The Devil's Strip. A firm optimist, Gordon believes love is not just tender, but tough, and the only way the arc of history bends towards justice is through the hard work of ordinary people.
