Music has anchored its roots all around the globe, but when discussing the origins of modern rock, there is no doubt that the Bay Area in Northern California boasts some of the most fertile lands. In the past, it has given rise to popular bands such as Journey, Bassnectar, and Third Eye Blind; now, from the city of Millbrae, it brings us a new addition to alternative rock: WithoutSpaces.
In the winter of 2010, singer Mack Ortis and bassist James Ortis decided to try their hand at songwriting. What began as just a hobby, however, soon grew into something much bigger. In February of 2011, the Ortis brothers joined forces with producer Jordan Park to form WithoutSpaces, so that they could share their passion for music.
Once the idea manifested, WithoutSpaces hit the ground running. Recording began in April of 2011, and an EP was released by June of the same year. Since then, WithoutSpaces has played in several shows of various sizes, even having the honor of performing with Switchfoot and Relient K at JoshuaFest, Spirit West Coast, and Rock of Ages.
In July 2012 the band released their first album, On The Line, a 12 track LP available on iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon Music. Their first album was received well by fans, having sold out of the albums twice.
In spite of their growing popularity, the members of WithoutSpaces take pride in remaining close with their fans. With its ever-growing fanbase, alongside some creative marketing, WithoutSpaces is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with, ready to take the music industry by storm.
