My name is Jarred Matthew and I'm a singer/songwriter and high energy particle physics at UC San Diego! I have a strong soulful voice and play electric and acoustic guitar (I also play a pretty mean harmonica). I have a lot of original music and I also play a variety of covers ranging from 60s soul classics from Otis Redding, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, even 80s pop like Michael Jackson as well and many other types of modern blues, pop, R&B, and country music. I can also get some of San Diego's best-accompanying musicians/vocalists to play along with me including percussion, bass, guitar, horns, strings, etc.; whatever you'd like to make your event extra special.

Although I'm well known for my big, soulful, raspy voice, I can also sing all varieties of music from R&B, blues, soul, pop, country, and folk. I have all the necessary equipment and can either play as a solo musician or can bring along with me some of San Diego's most talented accompanying musicians. My number one goal is to be as easy to work with as possible while taking as much off your plate as I can. I've worked with hundreds of couples and I know how to focus on the things that count and make you and your guests feeling comfortable and smiling.
I grew up in southern California and moved to the islands in 2011 to pursue a PhD degree in high energy physics. I've played guitar and sang for over 18 years now and started when I was very young. I'm engaged to my high school sweet heart that I've been best friends with since I was 14 years old! Welp, I finished my degree n 2017 and moved back SoCal where I currently live in Ocean Beach sand Diego where I hold a postdoctoral position at UCSD. Music has always been an incredible passion for me. I'm currently working on a full record that should be available by the beginning of 2018!
I provide full sound and all equipment needed for any small to medium sized indoor and outdoor events. If the venue is exceptionally large my equipment will not be sufficient but renting equipment is always an extremely easy solution. I'm well connected with companies in the area that provide great rates and reliable service.
