We got our start as an historic band, re-enacting the the 150th anniversary of Ventura County (California) in 1873. Wynema was the original name of the port town for the county. At the time, music was performed by what instruments they had available: Violin, Trumpet & Trombone, Acoustic Guitar, and Snare Dum. The style of music was a combination of Classical Music, Civil War Songs, Waltzes, and German Polkas (by Austrian composer Johann Strauss, Jr.).
When we perform this music, there is an educational element. The Wynema Orcheatra 1873 will take you on a "Musical Journey Through Time" as we discus the major turning points in CA history over a 50-year time period.
We had a very import event celebrating the 150 Year Anniversary of Ventura County at my Oxnard Historic Farm Park. I contacted Chuck Jacks and he put together an authentic group of musicians that captured the era of the music we needed for the event. Chuck and his group were easy to work with, the communication was good and the performance exceeded my expectations!
Price Range: $400 - $2000

Wymena Orchestra 1873 has a very simple setup. Since this is an historical group from the 1800's, our needs are basic. Just 4 chairs (with no arms), an electrical outlet with an extra long extension cord and power strip, and we would prefer to have a microphone with a speaker set up for us. If outdoors, we require an overhang to protect our instruments from the sun, etc. Thank you for hiring us!
