Young Elvis Presley

On December 5th, our precious Mother, grandmother, great grandmother & great -great grandmother passed away peacefully. She will be missed beyond words. The wonderful memories we have of Mom throughout her life will never be forgotten.

We have always given Mom birthday parties on her January 1st birthday & the most memorable birthday party was her 91st (her last birthday party).

Mom loved music & loved to dance. She was an Elvis fan & a bigger fan of Gary Garcia, the Showman. Gary was more than happy to sing for "Pinky" at her 91st birthday. "Pinky" was the nickname Gary gave Mom because she loved pink & wore a lot of pink.

Mom was so happy when Gary sang to her. She loved Elvis songs & "oldies" so much. Although she was in a wheelchair & could no longer dance, she moved her hand to the beat of the music & sang as she remembered some of words to the songs.

The attention Gary gave Mom came from the heart & Mom showed her love & appreciation by kissing Gary's hand during a song. Thank goodness for videos!

It was an unforgettable birthday- one we will always cherish.

Thank you for your kindness, for caring, for your sincerity...and thank you for singing Mom's favorite song - "Can't help falling in love with you" at her burial.

He arrived early for the event, was very easy to work with, had a great attitude, and most importantly sounds just like Elvis and had excellent dance moves. We just celebrated a retirement party and Gary was our entertainer. He was fantastic! I wanted a crooner for an evening of elegant dining and music. Gary surpassed my expectations. I felt as if Sinatra, Dean Martin and Frankie Valley personally visited the party. He has a beautiful voice and is very charasmatic. My guest loved his show. It will be a party to remember. The City of Elmendorf's Christmas Parade is a time honored tradition celebrated by the community on the first Saturday morning of December every year. Being such a small city, the event was always planned to serve a small turnout with a local DJ for entertainment. This year, I wanted it to be something different.

Luckily, on a day of going through old classmates' Facebook profiles, I came across Gary the Showman's page. I remember his brother in my class and hearing they both were in the entertainment industry. I was happy to see he pursued his dream for his career path but I was honestly more excited at the thought of providing Elmendorf a breath of fresh air! The initial Facebook notice for the event did not get much of a response but after posting promotional photos of Gary and his Selena impersonator, the post reached over a thousand people the day before the parade and just about that many showed up! It was the biggest turnout Elmendorf has ever seen.

Before the parade, I spent some time reading reviews and watching videos of Gary's performances but none of that prepared me for his actual talent! Gary will blow your mind with the flexibility of his voice. Contracting an Elvis performance does not just get you Elvis. You get Beegees, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, James Brown and other surprises that stir things up. The Elvis performance sounded so authentic, people at first thought he was lip singing! My boss' mother had attended an actual Elvis Presley concert as a young girl and she said seeing Gary's performance brought back memories.

At a typical parade, the public would come to watch the parade, pick up their free plate of food and go. Gary's ability to engage an audience kept people standing by the stage under the high noon sun for nearly 2 hours. He stole the show and made the event his. It is obvious that Gary enjoys what he does and is a true professional by touching hands with all who approach him.

Stepping back, I noticed that women and children really have the most enthusiastic response to Annette Terrazas' impersonation of Selena. Annette has the mannerisms of Selena down and her costumes are flawless. Seeing the children dancing with Annette onstage and the women below waving and singing along was really inspiring. Getting kids to dance to music that was created way before their time proves that Selena's music will never die.
