A Swingin' Affair Jazz Ensemble

The era of “Nightclubs” and “Lounge Acts” may be long gone, but A Swingin’ Affair strives to recapture that feeling of a special “Night on the Town”, enjoying drinks with friends and experiencing special live entertainment . We perform Popular Standards in the “Sinatra Style.”Drawing upon the Great American Songbook, we have tried to identify the songs and sounds that will remain timeless for all listeners, long after other musical trends have come and gone, and then give those songs a snappy, exuberant treatment that harkens another era. That era featured the greatest singers paired with the greatest musical arrangements, and it saw its apotheosis in the 1950s and 1960s. A Swingin’ Affair distills these myriad sounds to a few basic elements: jazz guitar, stand-up bass, swingin’ drums, and lead vocal. All designed to evoke a unique moment in time, one that many of today’s audiences have most likely never experienced. The ultimate goal: to be a special part of special events or an audiences’ evening “out and about”.

A Swingin’ Affair performances include but are not limited to:
· Bars/Nightclubs/Lounges/Restaurants/Supper Clubs
· Weddings (suggested as entertainment at the Cocktail Hour)
· Private Parties
· Special Events and Benefit Shows
· Community-sponsored Events

Also, please note that our PA System can be utilized throughout your event for various purposes. During intermissions and at the conclusion of a performance we will broadcast tasteful music which is in keeping with our standard repertoire. But we are also happy to play customized playlists prepared by you (digital playlist or CDs). As the saying goes, “the music never stops”, and it can be customized to fit your event.

Our band strives to be as tasteful as possible both in the music that we perform and the volume at which we play it. We are very conscious about keeping our volume at a reasonable, and sometimes even quiet, level. Our priority is that your guests/patrons can enjoy their time together and hold conversations without finding the band’s volume to be overwhelming.
