Puerto Rican born master latin percussionist, Anthony Carrillo and seasoned jazz pianist Amy Quint-Millan form the AA Team; a latin jazz duo with diverse styles and rhythms drawing from their extensive musical experiences including that of American jazz, Puerto Rican bomba, plena and salsa, Cuban guaracha and Santeria, and most recently southeast Asian music. AA Team has recorded original music as well as standards with their own personal twist as can be heard in their interpretation of Dust in the Wind featuring tabla and cuban percussion. Their YouTube channel contains a treasure chest of rich arrangements featuring solo piano meditations, Bata and Santeria, Rumba, Jazz and Salsa.

AA Team can provide a simple and classic sounding piano and percussion duet capable of playing latin (Manicero, Besame) and latin/ jazz standards and originals as well as a latin fusion of jazz and pop standards ie: Just the Two of Us/Fragile. Although not as large and loud as a large latin dance band, The AA Team definetely gets the audience listening and moving to the clave rhythm. Most are captivated by the mastery of Mr. Carrillo on percussion (conga/bongo) and the way he adds a latin flavor to whatever style Ms. Millan lays down on the piano.
Master percussionist, Anthony Carrillo and accomplished pianist, Amy Millan form the innovative latin jazz ensemble AA Team. The latest fruits of their work include a latin dance EP and 2 jazz original singles with more work on their YouTube channel @YÁMBAWA. Together they have combined their extensive experience and diverse talents to create a rich and fresh repertoire loaded with powerful musical chemistry.
Master percussionist Anthony Carrillo comes from proud musical Puerto Rican heritage. Although probably most well-known for his performances with the famous LP artist and childhood friend, Giovanni Hidalgo, Mr. Carrillo has performed with numerous renowned musicians throughout his career including Eddie Palmieri, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Paul Simon and Harry Belafonte as well as being an integral member of the outstanding percussion based ensemble, Batacumbele and, in contrast, the Puerto Rican metal band, PUYA. Piano legend Eddie Palmieri has referred to Mr. Carrillo as “the best bongocero in the universe.” Under his own name Anthony Carrillo has released 3 CD’s featuring the historic first ever recordings of rumba from Puerto Rico. More recent performances include the off broadway musical “I Like it Like That” 2017, and recording bongo with Puerto Rican artist Residente on his recent track “Hijos del Cañaveral”. In April 2018, his latin jazz group AA team released 2 original singles featuring Mr. Carrillo on bongo and drumset as well as vocals. In August 2018, his dance band YÁMBAWA released a four track EP featuring originals and English pop standards infused with Spanish rap. He has said that these 2 productions have formed his most prolific and inspired body of work yet in his career.
Amy Quint-Millan honed her jazz piano chops in the midwest studying with Michigan based piano greats, Ted Lint and Eddie Russ. Once in New York, Quint-Millan came to be known for her ability to swing a standard as well as lay down a latin “tumbao” convincingly enough to make people believe she's from south of the border. Ms. Millan has become a well known face on the salsa and latin jazz scene. She has graced the stage with renowned salseros such as Cuco Valoy, Jimmy Sabater, Ray de la Paz, Giro, Anthony Cruz and Candido Camero among others. She went on to become part of “Johnny Almendra and Los Jovenes del Barrio” and “Jimmy Sabater, Jr y su Orquesta” before meeting and collaborating extensively with master percussionist Anthony Carrillo in creating the ground breaking salsa/rock/rap fusion band YÁMBAWA and the latin jazz ensemble AAteam.
