If you haven't had the opportunity to listen to one of Detroit's most prominent lyricists, do your self a favor and listen now. Ali Cashius Jr. is the son of two foreigners, his mother was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and his father hails from the war ridden country of Yemen. Ali was raised by his mother on the Southwest Side of Detroit, where he was forced to grow up fast, and experience a world drugs, crime, and gang-violence, which is a norm on the Southwest Side. Ali was always ahead of his years from a young age. While other kids were watching cartoons, Ali was studying Nas, 2Pac, Malcolm X, Che Guevara, and Eminem. From battle rapping to dropping freestyles all over the city, it didn't take long for Ali to find his lane in the music industry. After struggling with trying to pay for college and washing dishes at various hotels around Detroit, Ali's frustration continued to grow. He was making enough money to help his mom and maybe pay a bill or two. Everyone knew who Ali was, but responsibility was literally depriving him from pursuing his career. Not being able to afford studio time would eventually push Ali out of the cold streets of Detroit, to the hot streets of Phoenix, AZ. Since his transition, Ali has continued to work, and opened up for Artists' such as Method Man & Redman, Currensy, Denzel Curry, Dave East and more. Verbal Vigilante is Ali's latest offering and it does not disappoint. Verbal Vigilante was filmed in Downtown Detroit, by Detroit's own Diego Cruz. Songs like this are one of the reasons very few artist are brave enough to rap along side the Puerto Rican-Yemeni lyricist.
