Anna brings a fresh and groovy vibe to classic standards, pop covers, and modern r&b hits with sultry and soulful vocals and rhythmic guitar playing, adding fullness to her sound with a loop pedal. She has an ability to read the crowd and match their energy, while connecting individually with audience members.
Anna performed during the ceremony and cocktail hour portions of our Summer 2023 wedding and we were blown away by her incredible performance!
Anna’s instrumental guitar during the ceremony sounded so lovely and peaceful - it helped create the perfect ceremony vibe. Her guitar and vocals during cocktail hour were amazing, all the songs she played were beautiful and really added to the romantic atmosphere of our garden wedding. We received so many compliments from both guests and other vendors on her performance.
She was also extremely prepared and professional leading up to the event - coordinating with other vendors to figure out the audio setup, meeting with us to personalize the set list and discuss desired songs well in advance, and arriving early to prep for the ceremony.
I am so glad we chose to hire Anna for music at our wedding!! Good music is a priority for us and having an incredible live musician play at our wedding made the day that much more special.
Anna performed at our corporate event, she was great, polite, and very friendly. Loved her song selection and music style, and she was very easy to work with. Highly recommend!
Response from Anna Ballew:
Thanks so much for having me!
Anna is as absolutely amazing to work with! She is incredibly talented and has a true gift. Her voice is dreamy and smoothly. She was able to learn any song that we wanted for the wedding day. Would recommend her for any event, especially a wedding!
The one thing I truly wanted for my wedding was good live music. Anna created the PERFECT ambiance for my wedding. It was so beautiful and romantic and she has such a calming vibe that made the start of my reception feel just right. I was a little stressed upon arrival to the reception, but Anna’s soothing energy helped me to relax and breathe! I got so many compliments on the music, even long after the wedding about her talents.
My brother recently lost a child, and it was so important to me that he and his family felt good at the wedding. It touched my heart to see him sit up right close her her singing by the fire with his family and I could see peace and joy in his face. In that moment I relaxed and felt so grateful I asked Anna to sing. It was a beautiful memory I won’t forget.
Anna was great at communicating with me about what I was looking for and was so willing to work with me. She learned a few songs for me but honestly, she already had so many great songs on her set list that I loved. She completely calmed my nerves and helped the flow of my wedding even when I had a few last minute changes.
Of all the things I planned for the wedding, this was my favorite part. I only wish I had footage with her singing and wish I had hired her to sing for me on the beach during my ceremony.
Also, I never write reviews about anything, so the fact that I am writing one for her means a lot!
She is worth every penny!
We hired Anna to play at our wedding and she was absolutely perfect! We had 2 years to plan and we did a lot of research and Anna is DEFINITELY a rare find. She was so great to work with from beginning to end, so professional and responsive, which really helps when you are planning a wedding.
Her voice is so soulful and she has a beautiful energy to her. She has a very extensive music list that appealed to all of our guests, and she was even willing to play some of our favorite songs. She played for the pre ceremony, the ceremony, cocktail hour AND all through dinner. We received so many compliments about Anna from our guests. She is a truly talented artist and she was a very special part of what made our day so amazing.
We hired Anna Ballew to provide music for a party in our backyard. She asked ahead of the event what type of music we liked and even learned a couple specific songs that were important to our party. Anna is a joy to work with and I highly recommend her!
We hired Anna for a private backyard party and she was extremely easy to work with, very professional and self sufficient with all her own equipment for set up and presentation. She was also very helpful in brainstorming about mood and music during planning. Having a beautiful talented live artist got the guests excited when they arrived and brought energy to the event. She started with a set list of songs that enhanced our Woodstock theme and set the mood and then adjusted as she went along responding to the desires of the crowd and reading the room. She has a beautiful voice and her rendition of the classics fit perfectly and were personalized with her own unique touch. Everyone truly enjoyed her - she made the party! I’d hire her again for sure!!

Anna Ballew grew up in a music-filled household— her father provided plenty of musical entertainment, whether that was a family jam session to Cat Stevens’ “Moonshadow” or playing some tunes on guitar after dinner parties. Anna’s formal entrance into music started with classical violin at age 4. After a brief stint of choir in 5th grade, she returned to violin, but this time playing bluegrass style-fiddle. This is where she truly fell in love with music— the free-form and playful nature of bluegrass music, compared to her more structured by-the-book experience with classical violin, inspired her to get back into singing and start learning guitar in high school. Largely self-taught on guitar, Anna started learning songs that she heard her father play growing up, mainly from folk singer-songwriters like Jackson Browne and James Taylor. Towards the end of high school, she began her musical career performing with a friend at small events around her hometown of Missoula, Montana. During her years in college, her musical taste shifted more towards jazz and funk. She began to model her sound around artists like Amy Winehouse, Ella Fitzgerald, Allen Stone and Hiatus Kiayote.
Often compared to Rachel Price of Lake Street Dive, Anna’s voice is rich, sultry and soulful. She is currently working on an EP to be released in the next year. Anna can be found performing local restaurants, wineries, weddings and private events.
