First off, Austin is a sweetheart. We only "met" him once or twice by phone and Skype before our wedding, but he felt like a friend by the big day. Second, he has a Voice. So many people came up to us and complimented his sound, especially during cocktail hour. He played lovely arrangements of all the songs we wanted for our first dance and parental dances, including learning "Forever Young" for me to dance with my dad. My only minor complaint, is that due to issues with his speakers, he did end up switching over to the venues speakers and cut his live act a bit short of what our contract and rate stipulated instead playing music from a playlist we'd put together, augmented by his own choices. This meant he did not get a chance to play several songs I had asked (and paid for) him to arrange as a surprise to my husband who loves Jersey rock, which was not in Austin's standard setlist. However, that said, Austin handled a tough situation gracefully--none of our guests even knew about the issues and everyone had a great time dancing to his DJ set. He also told me that he's bought a back up speaker to avoid this issue in the future. I'd say for couples on the fence between wanting live music, especially for cocktail hour and dinner, but still wanting the energy of top 40 dance music later in the night, Austin is masterful a. As for the songs we'd missed out on? He went to the trouble of recording them so I can play them for my husband at our one month-versary. What a dear.
