I am a West Michigan based comedian with over 40 years on the stage. My time is split between being a PHYLLIS DILLER TRIBUTE ARTIST and being a non-religious WEDDING OFFICIANT. I officiate weddings as myself or if you prefer Moira Rose from Schitt's Creek or the queen of comedy, Phyllis Diller to marry you, I can do that too. My weddings are anything but traditional. Remember you're hiring a comedian.
For Phyllis I will travel around the globe. For most weddings, I stick to Kent and Ottawa Counties in Michigan.
I hired a group of celebrity impersonators as a surprise for my mother’s 60th Birthday party. Being Phyllis stood out amongst the crowd. Not only was she energetic and hilariously entertaining, we learned things about Phyllis Diller that we didn’t know! 100000/10 would totally book again.
Response from Being Phyllis:
Your shindig was a blast. I’m honored to have been a part of it. Please keep me in mind for future entertainment needs. I’ll even leave Fang at home.
Laurie is a funny professional. I look forward to hiring her again at our next event.
Response from Being Phyllis:
Thank you bigly. A good time was had by all. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to next time.
Laurie is a hoot! We laughed so hard. She is funny and relatable, and we're so fortunate she could accommodate our last-minute request.
When you get that humor that makes you scream out loud and think at the same time is priceless!
Response from Being Phyllis:
Can't make it too easy for you! You had a fun group. Hope to make it an annual event. Thanks for the opportunity to perform.
Laurie commands the stage and delivers her act perfectly. Her one liners are relatable life moments that are hysterical!
Response from Being Phyllis:
Thanks bigly, Cindy. I thought that was going to be a tough event with post-election chaos, but everyone was so ready to laugh and have fun.
We haven’t laughed so hard since who knows when.
My dad has always been a practical joker. So when it came time to celebrate his 70th birthday, the family decided the time had come to turn the table and give him a healthy dose of his own medicine.
Laurie was the spark of the evening. Her routine was fresh, hilarious and the perfect source of entertainment for the whole family. Dad said he can’t wait until mom turns 65 to have her back…coming from someone that enjoys a good-hearted laugh, that’s quite an endorsement.
Thanks Laurie, Looks like you’re booked in the springtime.
Response from Being Phyllis:
The look on your dad's face was priceless. He was such a good sport. Your family and friends really know how to throw a bash. So many well-wishers he accumulated over the years. Let me know when mom is ready for her surprise party.
Laurie is such a talented comedian! She added so much to our corporate event, everyone really enjoyed her comedy and I was thrilled that she made the event such a success! I highly recommend her, you would be lucky to book her as her comedy is sharp, witty and works well for all kinds of people, age groups, etc. I will definitely be booking her again at my next event.
Response from Being Phyllis:
Hot diggity, always thrilled to hear from a happy client. Thank you for taking a moment to share that. I’m delighted you enjoyed my performance. Your event was top notch. I would absolutely love to return. Keep laughing - LA
Seeing Laurie perform keeps your tears rolling and gives you stomach pain because you can't stop laughing. She created an environment that keeps you pulled in, anticipating the humor to come. I definitely recommend her for any event you may need a comedian.
Response from Being Phyllis:
That was a fun night; one I won’t soon forget. It was an honor to perform for your group.
Fun entertainment for our church ladies' group. Her observations were spot on and hysterical. Recommend!
Response from Being Phyllis:
It was so nice to be out and about again this year and your group was fun and ready to laugh. Don’t know if I’ll ever forget that lady who couldn’t stop snorting. Fun times.
Laurie's smart, sarcastic humor makes for a great event. Highly recommend her!
Response from Being Phyllis:
Thank you for the endorsement. Being a professional laugh-maker gives me an opportunity to meet such delightful people. I look forward to returning again.
I wasn't sure what to expect becuase I'd never seen a comedian at church. Laurie was hilarious. It was refreshing not to hear vulger and cursing. I hope I get to see her again live some day
Laurie is a witty, smart and thoughtful comedian. Her insight into the human psyche is both intimidating and undeniably useful! I highly recommend booking Laurie.
Response from Being Phyllis:
You da bomb, thanks Tam. I aim to please… and tickle the funny bone.
It's relatable and cracked me up!
Response from Being Phyllis:
Thanks Amy. Nice to know I’m not alone in my “seemed like a good idea at the time” moments.
Laurie is the real deal goods when you are looking for entertainment and laughter. She had me cracking up every minute of her performance.
She is a class act comedian worth seeing in person. Video clips are great but not the real deal.
Response from Being Phyllis:
Thanks so much, Aleece. Always a delight to hear from happy clients. Keep laughing.
It was unforgettable! Had a great time, very enjoyable! I would definitely go again!
Response from Being Phyllis:
Thanks Judy, that was a fun time indeed. Your group was a hoot! I hope to be back before too long.

AS YOUR WEDDING OFFICIANT:
I'm a comedian. I am non-traditional, and non-religious. I will work WITH you to craft the perfect ceremony, not too serious, but nothing that will embarrass grandma. The outline for most weddings consists of me doing some light comedy related to love & marriage, then there's the vow portion (your own or repeat after me), rings, and other elements. The "other elements" is where we customize it specifically for you, sometimes it involves alcohol, or cultural traditions, or something most of your guests won't have experienced at previous weddings.
Because my primary career is a comedian, I limit the weddings I take to West Michigan, Kent and Ottawa counties. That way, I tend to have more last minute availability since I don't book myself full of weddings, and I'm nearby, so no travel worries, regardless of weather.

In hindsight, I’ve been preparing for this role as PHYLLIS DILLER IMPERSONATOR my entire life.
It all started on a cold December day in the mid-century. I was born a blue-eyed, redhead. Some might say it must be my destiny. Before I could write my name, I started performing. As a pudgy, little ginger, barely out of cloth diapers, I spent the next 13 years as a ballerina and a tap dancer. My grandfather was a professional musician, so naturally I went on to play a couple musical instruments.
I even dabbled in acting. Entertainment telegrams were big in the 80s so I started a singing and dancing telegram business entertaining clients using my comedy characters.
In 1988 I performed stand-up comedy for the first time at the Comedy Den in Grand Rapids Michigan.
When I had that blinding glimpse of the obvious moment about being a Phyllis Diller tribute artist, I wondered why I didn't see it earlier. Naturally, it felt so right. I realized that I was born to do this. I have unknowingly been training for this role my whole life.
Client will have appropriate dressing room, sound system available at the event. Corded, wireless, or lav microphone will do nicely. I'll bring the funny, you bring the sound and performance platform.

Who inspired and influenced me to be a Phyllis Diller tribute artist? Well the queen of comedy herself, thee Phyllis Diller, of course.
All I need is a microphone and a place to perform... and the ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need.
