Belly Dance by Kenzie

Kenzie is an experienced performer, and her shows are classy, upbeat, elegant and glitzy. Her costumes are imported directly from Egypt and are adorned with gorgeous sequins, gems and beads. Kenzie always uses authentic Middle Eastern music, and her shows are guaranteed to enthrall audiences of all ages and ethnicities.

Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Kenzie became enthralled with bellydance at a young age. She began studying classical ballet, modern and jazz as a child, and would often follow her mom to bellydance classes, performances and rehearsals just to watch. In 2006 and 2007, Kenzie was honored to be one of just 35 dancers in the state of New York selected by audition to attend the New York State Summer School for the Arts School of Dance at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. There, she studied intensively under many well-known and upcoming dancers and choreographers, most notably Carolyn Adams (formerly of Paul Taylor Dance Company) and Robert Battle (artistic director of Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre). Finally, in 2007, she added bellydance to her repertoire of dance forms. When she began to study bellydance under her mother Faaria, Kenzie realized that she naturally soaked up the movements and cultural context of belly dance like a sponge. She quickly progressed and began her professional performing career at the age of 17, performing at Egyptian, Lebanese and Pakistani weddings, festivals, restaurants and hookah lounges around WNY.

Kenzie earned her BFA in Dance from SUNY Fredonia, where she was a member of the college's pre-professional performing company, the Fredonia Dance Ensemble and was a choreographer and performer for the student-run dance company, Orchesis. While at Fredonia, she was the recipient of several dance scholarships including the Gertrude Prushaw Maytum Scholarship, the 1929 Graduates Ballet Fund Award, and the Trent Illig Memorial Scholarship. Kenzie attributes her success in the world of dance to three amazing women: Kerry Ring, Tressa Crehan, and Faaria. She continues to study belly dance at Oasis Dance Center in Tonawanda, NY and is an active member of the Oasis Binat Belly Dance Ensemble. She continuously seeks out opportunities to study with the best in the industry and travels to workshops all around the United States and Canada. Kenzie has been invited to perform all over Western NY at various events including Canisius College's Arab Night, the STORM Buffalo Gala, and Hillel Buffalo's Israeli Carnival at the University at Buffalo. She has performed at countless other venues and parties as well. Kenzie has a reputation for bringing tasteful elegance and style to every event she performs at.
