Recently a few friends and I had the opportunity to listen to the Bill Barbieri duo. It was an enjoyable experience for all. The duo played some catchy tunes as well as mellow selections. I recently hosted a baby shower at the Coast Guard House/Anchor Room and had the pleasure of having Bill and his accompanist Tom play for the entire afternoon. Bill is a seasoned professional checking out the venue ahead of time to suggest the best space in the room for the placement of his keyboard for all to enjoy. Bill also made sure all points in the room could hear the music at an enjoyable level. Everyone enjoyed the impressive selection of music as it added a pleasant ambience to a joyful occasion. We hired Bill to perform for my mother's 90th birthday party after hearing him locally. Bill takes his gig's seriously and drove to the venue to checkout the piano a couple of weeks before the event which I was impressed with. Honestly everything he did impressed us. He created a medley for when my dad was to dance with the birthday girl. He suggested songs to be played during the photo montage and as guests walked into the venue. The amount of prep time he spent was so appreciated and then the night came and he played so beautifully and went with the flow when people spontaneously got up to sing songs to her, quickly accompanying them. He is such a pleasure to work with and I can't recommend him highly enough.
Bill was the pianist in a trio jazz band who played at the Hill and Harbor Cigar Lounge in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The venue was filled to capacity. Bill has honed his craft as a musician which is reflected in his ability to meld with other band members with his own stylistic approach. Whether he is performing a solo or combined with others Bill certainly stands out as true professional that I would recommend.
I’ve see the BB Duo multiple times. These guys are awesome, not only super talented but also very aware of not being too loud or too soft. They know how to control a room and just straight up entertain. The smooth sound of the piano is just unmatched. I would go out of my way to see these guys again and again.

I hired Bill to play for my husband’s birthday at our condo in Palm Beach. He played for the entire evening and never repeated a song. His song list is huge and he played a large variety of music. Keyboard enthusiast with more than five decades of musical background. From classical to the standard classics and jazz, Bill has it at his fingertips!
Bill was introduced to music at the early age of 5 by his father who played bass. A nightly routine, they read music from study books which came from Twin City Music, a regular stop for all Rhode Island musicians. A few years later, Bill was taking accordion lessons from (JP) Joe Petteruti who owned the music store.
From there he moved on to organ and piano studying with a myriad of instructors. As a youngster, Bill played at church services as he mastered the Hammond organ while studying classical music. Some years later Bill was teaching organ and piano lessons for two businesses as well as privately.
As a member of a southern rock band, Bill performed on the Hammond B3 and has recently played piano performances at upscale restaurants and private cocktail parties in Rhode Island and Palm Beach, Florida.
Tom Colantonio
RI based Tom keeps the beat going, holding down the low end on upright bass.
Main Upright Jazz influences are Ray Brown, Paul Chambers, Ron Carter and Christian McBride.
