If your in the mood for live music that is a little different from what you usually hear around town then you will definitely want to check out Blue Suede Sun. We are a three piece vintage Rockabilly band with a little torch of twang and a slightly more modern rock and roll edge thrown in for freshness. From Steve Wyse's twangy vocals and the clicking rhythm of his slap bass style, to Andrew Mullins' edgy rock and roll guitar, to the vocals and hard driving unique drumming style of Rod Hyner, when it comes to Rockabilly music, this band is the real deal. The music is timeless yet refreshing. Best of all, it's fun for all ages! Check us out!

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
Our show is good, clean fun for ALL ages. Our stage presence is clean and professional. We try to engage with our audience, we sometime educate on the history of the vintage rockabilly songs, and we try to introduce the audience to great rockabilly artist that many people have never heard of. Most of all, we have fun! Because if we're having fun, the chances are that our audience is having fun as well.
We treat our band like we would a business. As in any business, we abide by a few of the basic principles. You are the customer, and it's our job to meet or exceed your expectations! We adhere to our commitments by showing up on time and ready to perform well prepared as planned. We respect the fact that you are also running a business, and it's our job to help you to be profitable, and to present ourselves professionally as an agent of your business.
On behalf of the band, Blue Suede Sun looks forward to working with you soon!

We are a three piece Rockabilly band. The word rockabilly has been used to describe many different music styles and bands. For purist like ourselves, rockabilly can be defined as music that is based on the blues, but is played much faster. The distinguishing difference between the blues and rockabilly is the back-beat rhythm played not only by the drums, but also by the upright bass player as he snaps and slaps the strings while plucking the notes. Big band influences can also be heard in guitar chord punches imitating the horn section of Big Band music (think of the opening guitar for "Rock around the Clock"). But this is only half of the formula - the "rock" part. The other half - the "billy", is a combination of Chet Atkins guitar picking, and reverb laden twangy vocals with lyrics that are simple and "down home" ("you can drink my liquor from an old fruit jar" - Blue Suede Shoes). This is what you can expect to hear from Blue Suede Sun. We typify rockabilly as the music that came out of Sun Records Studio in the mid-late 1950's. This is what we've patterned our show after. We may occasionally rock it up a little to add new life to the songs, but when it comes to Rockabilly bands, we are the real deal.
