Led by singer-composer, Sudha Subbaraman, Boston RhyDhun provides music from India covering genres from Indian classical, spiritual/devotional to contemporary and retro Bollywood. We are team of highly trained musicians, vocalists, composers and voice teachers who specialize in customized music set to different themes, using an ensemble of musicians and employing high-quality professional-grade, seasoned vocalists. Our shows are performances usually for impactful fundraisers for charity organizations and causes.
Sudha also composes original music for music videos and dance productions, and can create music tailored to a production.
We invited Sudha for a one hour musical mehfil of old hindi songs( medley of Lata, Asha ,Geeta Dutt) with some Shreya and Farida Khanum thrown in there on the occasion of mom's birthday. She impressed us with her gayaki and her warm interaction with the audience as well as her intro to each song. She even managed to get the audience dancing along. Overall we really enjoyed the evening and Sudha played a big part. She brought along a compact karaoke for the backing tracks. We hope to have her back again .
Response from Boston RhyDhun Band:
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. You are a wonderful family and hosts, and it was a pleasure performing to celebrate your mom's birthday.

Sudha's style is influenced by legends like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Shreya Ghoshal and she will present melodies that are both catchy and tunefully rich. The performance is usually with a live band of several musicians.
Sudha Subbaraman is a singer-songwriter, producer and composer based in the Boston area. Originally hailing from Mumbai and belonging to a Tamil family, Sudha comes from a musically endowed family with her earlier years rooted in Carnatic music. She was inspired into music by her sister, Shanti Subbaraman. Later, she pursued training in Hindustani vocals with Guru Smt. Swati Panda in accordance with Gwalior Gharana. Currently, Sudha is a disciple of Vidushi Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar.
Sudha has been performing in the Boston area with several bands in genres ranging from classical, semi-classical to light contemporary for impactful charitable fundraisers like CRY, QUEST etc.
In 2019, she delved deeper into her songwriting journey with her fellowship with the production house, IndianRaga and released songs in collaboration with other musical artists all over the world and presented re-created versions of Hindustani classical bandishes with original arrangements in Raag Maru Bihag, Raag Bhimpalasi, Raag Kedar and Raag Durga. All of this is posted in the IndianRaga channel.
During the pandemic, Sudha continued with online collaborations working with artists around the globe which are posted on her YouTube channel and Instagram. She was instrumental in re-creating the music for an inclusive-music project by Aasmaan Foundation called "Olangal - Waves'' which was performed by artists of all abilities and launched on maestro Illayaraja's music channel in December 2020. With an avid interest in composing and directing, Sudha has also been directing concerts and choirs in the local area for several charitable causes like Ekal Vidyalaya and AdityaJyot Eye Foundation. The concert that is close to her is "Surmayee Shaam" from 2018, and one project that she feels proud of is the song "Ekal Gatha" released in April 2021 that she produced and directed with local singers from the Boston area to further the mission of Ekal Vidyalaya.
Her personal favorite recording projects are her singles with videos - "Kanha", "Devi Dharohar", and "Saraswatheeyaamam" all of which are available on all platforms.
Sudha is influenced by the rich music of India - she grew up listening to the music of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Rafi Saab and KishoreDa, while on the classical side, she equally grew up listening to Carnatic by MS Subbalakshmi, Madurai Mani Iyer and her Hindustani classical influences range from Pt Venkatesh Kumar and her own Guru Arati Ankalikar to Sawani Shende.
