We destroy Funk, Motown, Classic Hip-hop, Salsa, Afrobeat, Reggae, New Orleans Jazz and whatever else makes NYC dance floors bump. As a brass band, we're extremely flexible in terms of size, instrumentation, sound setup, and music. We're equally at home as a quiet cocktail trio, a marching celebration, and as a bombastic party band. We pride ourselves on our ability to "read the room" and react to any situation, and we work closely with all clients to determine the best option for each event.
The members of Breakdown Brass tour/record with international artists such as Wyclef Jean, Wu Tang, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Father John Misty, Rag & Bone Man, Streetlight Manifesto, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Lee Fields and the Expressions, Antibalas, Slavic Soul Party, The Artie Shaw Orchestra and MANY more.
As a brass band, we regularly play with ZERO amplification or stage necessary. That said, we also often perform with a full stage setup including electric guitar, so our technical needs vary from venue to venue
