Andrew Monohan - Cellist/Singer

Andrew Monohan performed superbly at my party in Phoenixville, PA on Friday. I invited a total of 11 guests. They were all enthralled. Andrew's playing is masterful and spell-binding. Andrew performed all his selections by ear and memory, without using sheet music. For example, Andrew performed Disney's "A Whole New World," Oshokan Farewell, Gabriel's Oboe, "Bach's Air on G String", Phantom of the Opera's "Think of Me." and Beatles' "Penny Lane" just to name a few. I would recommend Andrew to perform at your event. He will make sure it will be spectacular.

I'm so glad I arranged to have Andrew play for my family, especially my sister who is eight months pregnant and deserved a treat! We were all impressed with the incredible variety of music in Andrew's repertoire, including classical music, showtunes and rock ballads. My 20 month old niece was spellbound and my Dad was singing along. I especially enjoyed his performance of Some Enchanted Evening and The Hymn of Joy. Andrew knows how to go with the flow of an event even while delivering an ovation-worthy performance.

Andrew was delightful. He has great range and his repertoire was wide and deep. He demonstrated an ability to adjust to somewhat unusual circumstance being in a hospital playing for a very sick patient. He lifted the spirits of a man who’s been struggling with a chronic illness for many years he and his family were deeply moved and elevated by Andrew‘s playing.

Andrew is a lovely fellow to boot. Great communicator and Eager to mold his playing to what is needed.

Andrew was so pleasant, talented, and easy to work with. He left no detail to chance, made sure his setup and sound was perfect, knew every song we asked for, and was a total professional. Thank you Andrew!

Andrew did an amazing job at our event. He arrived in plenty of time to set up, offered an enormous array of musical selections, and played beautifully. I would definitely recommend Andrew if you are looking for a cellist.

Unfortunately rain made our event entirely indoors and Andrew was able to play more softly/quietly so our guests were able to talk and converse at a normal volume. Even with the floors not being carpeted which can amplify the music.

Andrew Monahan was a wonderful addition to the celebration of our parent's birthdays. He showed up on time, early enough to warm up, wearing a very professional outfit. He sent me a very extensive list of music he could play from so that I could let the parents pick out songs that they liked the most. He played beautifully and even did a bit of singing for us too. My father is sadly, a Met's fan, but Andrew both sang and played "Take Me out to the Ball Game" and we all sang along. His music spanned from Beatles, to Bach, Beethoven and Show tunes. We had drinks and appetizers while he played for us for a memorable hour long concert in their living room.

Andrew performed brilliantly at my sister's wedding June 23rd, 2023 in Stony Brook, Long Island.
He showed up 2 hours early and performed some of my favorite songs on the cello: "La Vie en Rose," I Can't Help Falling in Love" just to name a few. Andrew went above and beyond. He showed poise and courtesy to all the guests including the manager. His playing was spot on. Every song he performed came out beautifully including "Unchained Melody" and Mendelsohn's Wedding March. My family enjoys having Andrew there when we need him to play his cello.

Andrew played by my Bangladeshi-Pakistani Wedding on March 3rd and what a dream come true! Andrew was so considerate and worked diligently on making our visions come to life! My husband and I wanted to do romantic Bollywood songs for our wedding entrances, and Andrew learned these songs and executed it beautifully! He also played a variety of popular songs for our guests and they were all so impressed! Andrew is so dedicated to his craft that he even played the songs for us ahead of time for me and my husband! We were easily able to determine what songs we wanted at our wedding, and what changes needed to be made. He is so easy to work with, and if you want something unforgettable you need to hire him! My favorite thing about Andrew is that he is going above and beyond for his clients, and his dedication on learning Bollywood songs to play for us was amazing! I posted a vlog about my wedding which has received over 700K views and over 1000 people have asked about him! He is GOOD!

Andrew was simply amazing! He brought the touch I wanted to my event. I did not ask for any specific songs but he improvised a few things and my guests loved it.
He was at the venue an hour before which gave him time to prep and tune his instrument; I would recommend Andrew for any special event if you want to add exquisite, classical music.

Andrew, you are a gem! You brought professionalism, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness to our wedding in Central Park. In the lead up to the wedding you were so gracious as to give me a 2 hr concert over the phone so that I could hear your playing and your style, and to carefully choose the lineup of songs for our big day. On the day itself you arrived early, were gracious to our guests and filled the air with the lovely, wondrous sounds of your beautiful cello. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Thank you so much for helping make our wedding unforgettable!

Andrew came down for our beach wedding in the Florida panhandle and our engagement party in New Jersey. He performed at an art gallery space and then restaurant where we had our engagement party. Then he performed at our wedding venue near the beach. He had an even larger repertoire of songs than I expected, and when I made a few requests for some John Williams music he quickly learned everything we requested. At one point during dinner he setup a side room in our event venue as a salon for guests to come and hear him play. We had a small portable PA system with a 1/4 inch jack and he offered to plug into it if we wanted, and during our engagement party, he joined up with our band and they started to improv together, which was unforgettable.

My mother’s 92 Birthday party was a momentous occasion. It was very important to our family and to our community. We needed performers who could bring a selection of songs that fit the atmosphere and the occasion perfectly. Andrew and Bree had the ability of presenting an air of professionality, while also interacting with the attendees at appropriate times. We especially enjoyed Isn't She Lovely, cellist solo and Bree singing Wind Beneath My Wings. The gallery space where the event was held was not a large space, yet the music that filled the room in some ways seemed to enlarge the gallery, lift the moods of all who attended and created an atmosphere of celebration. I would highly recommend Andrew and Bree for any occasion. We hope to work with them again soon.

I recently held a birthday party in NY for a friend of mine. Andrew and Bree played a variety of material, including recent songs like "Halo", more classic rock songs like "Wild Horses", as well as musical theater songs like "I Don't Know How to Love Him." Bree has a very sweet voice and Andrew plays cello using a combination of improvisation and melody. That this simple duo works is a testament to their arranging and choosing the right songs for a very pleasant experience. The combination was very pleasant and enjoyed by all.

We had Andrew to our office to play during an office birthday cocktail party. He was incredibly accommodating, great at planning and communication leading up to the event, and his playing is fantastic. He played a range of recognizable current and oldies songs, as well as, some incredible classic pieces. I especially loved it when he played "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by John Denver. We will definitely be hitting him up again for any of our party needs!

Bree and Andrew were on time and very courteous and accommodating to my guests and I. Bree is a brilliant singer and a very kind woman to work with. Andrew is a phenomenal cellist and band leader/organizer. They provided a customized tune list a week before my event and gave me the assurance over the phone that they would provide a very high quality performance. Andrew and Bree did a wonderful virtual performance for our online senior training/social site. They had the proper zoom setup for an virtual concert and the sound was good. Andrew, along with Bree Clarke, performed marvelously at the wedding of my niece recently. Andrew also played cello at my wedding a few years back. They both enhanced the ceremonies and receptions, and we received many compliments. Their repertoire is broad, and they consult cooperatively with the bride and groom about the song list. What a class act!

Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting and playing 2 house concerts with Andrew Monohan and Bree Clarke, a local New York duo. For two Saturdays in a row, May 15th and May 22nd, Andrew and Bree performed at my midtown apartment for myself and my two guests. Andrew plays cello, Bree sings and I play guitar and sing. We had a great time playing common songs that we knew, such as “Wild Horses”, “I Don’t Know How to Love Him”, “Catch the Wind” and many others. Andrew can easily blend with almost any melody and Bree has a sweet­­­ soprano voice and harmonizes easily. Their playlist is an intelligent selection of melodic songs from many generations. If you are looking for such songs played without the deafening loudness of a rock band, Andrew and Bree will make a good choice for your event.

On Saturday, May 22nd Bree Clarke sang and Andrew Monohan played cello at a party for myself, two friends, and my 95-year-old friend Ms. Cullen. It was great fun. Bree Clarke’s performance was breathtaking. Bree sang very sweetly while accompanied by Andrew on the cello: “Ave Maria” by Bach, “What a Wonderful World,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and “Some Enchanted Evening.” What a line up! Andrew performed cello with his outstanding Suite #1 in G major by Bach, his own composition “Somewhere Outside this Elevator,” “If I Loved You,” and “Ave Maria” by Schubert. We were very lucky to have Bree Clarke and Andrew Monohan. They did a superb job. We would love to have them back again. Ms. Cullen loved them and so did I. I hired Andrew Monohan to play at my mother’s Mother’s day party on Sunday, May 9th, 2021. Wow, he was the life of the party! What the entertainer he is! He brought flowers for my mother and played many emotional, moving, and sentimental songs on his cello. Our living room concert made me laugh. We all loved it. He even let my sister film it on her Iphone. He sang and played his brilliant and moving original songs too. It was great to hear his narration about his life and his composing. What an artist! The theme I chose for my party on 9/20/20 was “Broadway comes to Emerson NJ”. I searched online looking for folks that could do this for me. Then I found Andrew Monohan. He responded very quickly to my inquiry. We had a very lengthy conversation about what I wanted and Andrew immediately understood my needs. He told me to go on Youtube and look for Andrew Monohan and Bree Clarke. I did. I found them and listened to them. I thought this is what I was looking for. Then Andrew and Bree came up with a list of songs that they could play. I picked out the one’s I wanted and let them pick out what they thought would work. I had 33 folks attend my backyard. The performance began and I took a front row seat. The performance was awesome to say the least. Bree sang amazingly well and Andrew played his cello very beautifully. To say the least, I plan on having Andrew and Bree back. They were on time and courteous to all of the crowd. Andrew and Bree’s music put us in a better frame of mind despite Covid. Andrew Monohan was an amazing band leader/ organizer for a recent event. He coordinated a very talented singer, Bree Clarke, and a suburb harpist, Jim Flynn. They came well rehearsed and prepared with all the proper equipment. I would absolutely hire them again.

Andrew was a complete professional, courteous to our guests and our home and added some excellent background music for our New Years Eve party. Andrew Monohan is an excellent cellist. He played every song we requested for four hours on Christmas evening, 2019. He played everything from Christmas music to Phantom of the Opera to Classical music by Bach. He even played some of his own original music. We have Andrew perform on stage at our conference. We basically relied on him to run the timing of the show (playing people on and off, giving cues when to start/stop) and he didn’t let us down. Super professional. If you have an event where you NEED someone to show up and perform well, he is your musician.

Andrew was terrific. We hired him for an intimate wedding at the Baccarat hotel. He spent significant time prior to our ceremony understanding our song requests. He reached out several times to make sure we were comfortable with everything. The day of the wedding he arrived early and stayed late. Andrew was not only on time, he was early enough to give a hand with prep, which he did so happily. he was an excellent addition to the day, playing a mix of classical and contemporary music while the ceremony was under way. he coordinated a live performance of the first dance with a special guest singer, and was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Andrew is an amazing musician, and my wife felt he was the highlight of the wedding.

He arrived 1hr early. asked 100 questions how I wanted everything flexible on everything went with the flow easy to work with everyone loved his quality work. Wore traditional Indian clothing for the event .

I hired Andrew remotely to play for my clients proposal. I went in thinking that finding a cellist from afar would be a difficult task, but he made it easy and I didn’t have to worry. Playing for me via phone so I could hear his work, communicating promptly being very through with genres he could play and also giving me history and info about his instrument he set my mind at ease. Day of, he was on time, early actually, and played absolutely beautifully. I was totally impressed and so were my clients. I couldn’t have asked for better! Simply incredible!!!
I got married a couple weeks ago and hired Enki and Andrew (cellist) for both my ceremony and cocktail hour. Not only were they amazing musicians, they were incredibly professional. Very punctual, great communication skills, and extremely hardworking. My guests are still talking about what an amazing job they did. They we able to accommodate us for an intricate song to come down the aisle to and they played it so beautifully!!!! There was not a dry eye in the audience! They both play incredibly and it is evident how passionate they are about their craft. I would highly recommend them to anyone getting married or simply having any kind of event. I actually look forward to hiring them again in the future for anniversaries and other celebrations! If you want to higher top notch performers that will wow your guests, look no further than Enki and Andrew!!!

Andrew arrived early and set up quickly. He was dressed to impress, and impress he did! He played beautifully and sung songs, impressing all by singing with no music. He would then play the songs on his cello and take us away to far off places in our minds forgetting we were sitting in a nursing home dining room. Some of his songs brought back many memories for our residents, as there were many show tunes, including: Meet Me in St. Louis, Some Enchanted Evening (This was my favorite!), songs from the Phantom of the Opera, songs from Evita, I Just Called to Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder, and many other beautiful songs. I was very impressed with the way Andrew was very personable towards our residents here in the nursing home. He asked if anyone had any requests and went around shaking peoples hands. The staff and residents were so impressed with him and asked me when we were having him back!
