Carmen LaRen, a native of Philadelphia, PA is a model, actress, and singer who explores her talents liberally. She is a trained, singer and actress. As a model, she has had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented local and international photographers based in Philadelphia, including D’mont Reese, Zamani Feelings and Jahi Sadiq El, to name a few. Since she has been able to smile, posing for the camera has always been an enjoyment; however Carmen’s love of the camera is not to be confused with a lack of love for the stage.
Acting and live vocal performance also lie within Carmen’s range of talents. Early in her acting career, she fine tuned her skills in theater with such works as with various local productions. Since those humble beginnings, Carmen has toured with the Kareem Rogers Productions casts of Black Eye Love (2008), The Preyer (2009), and taken center stage Cleo as the lead role in the Philadelphia Urban Theater Festival’s production of Twice Loved (2010). In her most recent role in the touring hit stage play An Affair Exchange is No Robbery (2012), Carmen brings the character of Yolanda “Lonnie” Soul to life. In this comedic supporting role, Carmen keeps audiences laughing as they fall in love with the spirited character. After 2012, Carmen decided to branch extend her talents to the screen and work with "Do No Harm," which aired on NBC. Most recently, Carmen was a feature in an episode of MTV True Life which aired May of 2014.
Although Carmen has been heavily involved in many areas of performance art, the evidence of music as her first love is found in the way she delivers heart-felt and energetic selections from the stage. Having been a live vocal performer since the tender age of four, Carmen is at home on the stage singing to and with her audience. She currently works as a vocalist with Events Beyond Expectation, a corporate entertainment company which provides live entertainment for events such as weddings, galas, mitzvahs and corporate affairs. On a weekly basis, Carmen is part of a 8-piece band that lights up the dance floor and is literally the life of the party, giving way to who she is at heart – an entertainer. Additionally, she also performs with The Prototype throughout the country for all kinds of occasions.
In solo performances, Carmen has written and performed her own music, adding a personal tone and a relatable quality to her work. As a specialist in vocal performance art, she delivers an interactive performance that makes her audience feel both inspired and included. Carmen’s motto is, “Sing with your heart, write with your soul, and perform with your all…” One can rest assured that
Carmen pours everything she’s got to every presentation she delivers.
We are more than happy to accommodate any special musical selections that you may have for your event. Please let us know about these requests well in advance of your event.
Nothing ruins an event more than having guests repeatedly complain, "We can't hear the band!" Please let us know if the venue you've chosen provides any sound equipment. If they do, please put me in touch with the venue's sound technician so that we can sort out the details required for your event. If they do not provide sound equipment, we can provide our own. Please inform us of this as early as possible.
We understand that event catering is often offered at a premium, and while sometimes hosts do not mind if the band partakes in the food that is offered for the guests, some may prefer for the food they've purchased to remain strictly for the guests. We will always, ALWAYS respect your wishes when this is the case. Many events often occur in the evening hours and run for several hours during the time that most people would, in fact, be eating dinner. It would be helpful if we know your food preferences at the time of booking so that, as a band, we can prepare alternative options for ourselves to avoid any health potential health complications that may present themselves due to not eating (i.e. needing to have food to take medication, etc.)
