Dr. Didem Somel - voice, violin, piano
She is active as a soloist, chamber musician and has performed with numerous North American symphony orchestras. As a collaborative artist, Dr. Somel has been also recording for various musical projects, including radio and television broadcasts. In the last few years, she has been reenergized and focused on writing/performing/recording her compositions for Celestial Navigation.
Glen Anderson - double bass
Glen comes from a solid jazz background and has played with some of the best bands in the West, including: Marlon McPartland, Tom Scott, The Tower of Power Horns, Hal Linden (clarinetist and actor), The Martin & Rossi Show, and numerous Broadway productions. He has vast experience in all styles as a "first-call" double bass player with numerous Symphonic, Radio, and Television appearances to his credit. his experimental and creative nature helps new bass sound avenues to florish in the uncharted waters of Celestial Navigation.
Robby Albrecht - drums, production
Robby cut his first record with Two Minute Warning at age 19 on Pendulum Records. TMW changed their name to The Hatfields, cut a CD and toured extensively. He went on to form The Sea and recorded an album with Grammy-nominated producer Rob Genadek. As a fill in, he played at SXSW, sat in for Prince's drummer, and opened for Ziggy Marley and B.B. King. He now writes and produces in his studio focused on Celestial Navigation.
Celestial Navigation is a signature ensemble of voice/violin/piano, double bass, and drums. Sounds like world, classical and/or jazz music. Very appropriate music for family celebrations, formal and/or corporate events.
