I can provide anything needed for intimate food gatherings or larger events; i.e. menu development tailored to the needs and themes of the event. Staffing if needed, curate the rental needs and purvey them if necessary. I am happy to handle the logistical execution of food services on-site when needed.

For speaking or food demonstration events, I can tailor my services to the space and needs of the event.

I'm the daughter of 2 entrepreneurs. Raised in SoCal. I have been working w. food since I was 8 yrs of age.⁣⁣⁣ I am the eldest of 3, now a tía to the most joyous niece, Zuri. I love GOOD food, music + art in its many expressions.⁠

I've been working in food since I was of age to have a work permit. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣My favorite food memory is when I stayed up late throughout High School watching my blind grandma Loretta, cook by feel, taste + memory. I learned so much from her, I still think of her when I smell cumin, which she introduced to me.⁠

The mid 2000s I got serious about food. I met a Chef in Sacramento. That chef trusted me, pushed me out of my comfort zone, helped unlock what he called 'natural giftedness' in the kitchen. He created a safe space for exploration + growth. ⁠

I hosted dinners that served as an opportunity to put into practice what I was learning; this is where I began to foster communal food experiences long before I even started my business. ⁠

Food for me is more than just a beautifully plated skillfully executed meal. It's about what happens when we gather around the table. Where you're from, your socioeconomic status, doesn't play a part, WE ALL HAVE TO EAT. When we sit at the table we are at the same level. I want to facilitate communal food experiences by gathering people together around delicious tablescapes.⁠

When I lost my father in 2014 I spent time reflecting on the legacy he built and left in me. He was a generous builder, entrepreneur, pioneer, mentor, resourcer, and an all-around renaissance man. He taught us to build something that can sustain a good life for ourselves and those around us. In our home there was always room at the table for more. That’s why Chef Nekia LLC is more than just food, it’s a lifestyle and experience and all are welcome.

For catering events I need a functional kitchen, with running water and/or any rentals needed for the menu you selected.
