My music reflects my decades of experience as a pianist, while my professional demeanor and communication, along with my affordable rates, set me apart as a service provider. I specialize in jazz standards, which are perfect for cocktail hours, receptions, etc.
What a wonderful musician! She played a mix of jazz and blues standards (including a couple she learned at our special request), plus some of her own original pieces. The swing and blues dancers at the wedding loved it just as much as the folks enjoying the ambiance. She was an excellent communicator, timely in set up, sound check, performance, and break down, and just an overall breeze to work with. Would love to have her for future events!
Response from Chords & Class:
Thanks so much for the kind words, Mary! I was glad to be part of your special day!

For receptions, cocktail hours, dinner parties, and similar events, I tend to play mostly jazz standards unless the client has requested other genres. If desired, I also play piano covers of singer-songwriter/classic rock artists (Elton John, Billy Joel, Carole King, etc.).
I always show up early to set up and sound check, I am friendly and professional before, during, and after a performance, and I am very responsive to emails/messages. However, I am unlikely to be able to accommodate same-day requests or changes.
Because it's important to me to provide high-quality music, I don't tend to take requests during an event. I am, however, happy to take requests from clients in advance (an additional fee applies for more than three requests and/or if I need to purchase sheet music for any of the requests).
I require a contract for all event performances. To protect my time (rehearsal time, time that I set aside for your event, etc.), short-notice cancellations incur a fee.
I have been playing piano for 37 years. After starting with classical training, I moved into rock/pop/blues, and then onto jazz. I take pride in my professionalism, which encompasses my music, demeanor, and customer service.
I have an 88-key keyboard, mic, mic stand, and a speaker if you can't provide a PA system. I reserve the right to cancel an outdoor performance if rain/storms are heavy, as to avoid an electrocution risk.
This list is not at all comprehensive; it is just meant to give you a quick idea of my style:
JAZZ: My Romance, Beatrice, Black Orpheus, Georgia, Driftin'
CLASSIC ROCK: Your Song, And So It Goes, You've Got a Friend, Blackbird
My influences include Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Theo Katzman, Carole King, Jacob Collier, Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau, Barry Harris, and Tommy Flanagan.
I will need access to an electrical outlet (though I have a power strip and extension cords, so it doesn't need to be right by the keyboard) if you aren't providing a piano.
I prefer sufficient lighting to read music, but I can bring a lamp for an additional fee if needed.
For outdoor events, I need a tent, awning, or other cover if it’s raining.
