Dr. R. Christopher Teichler has been an active musician for over 40 years as composer, conductor, performer, and teacher. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees in Composition from Northwestern University.
Chris has received awards for his music from Wheaton College, the Elmhurst Jazz Festival, WFMT 98.7 FM Chicago, and the National Band Association. His music has been performed by ensembles ranging from middle school band through professional symphony orchestra. His works are published by R.T. Legacy, Alfred Music, Choristers Guild, Lorenz Music, Kjos Music, TRN Music and BRS Music.
An accomplished conductor, Dr. Teichler has directed numerous ensembles including orchestra, wind ensemble, jazz band, choir, musical theatre, and opera for Wheaton College, Trinity International University, Southwestern Baptist Seminary, and various churches. He is the conductor for the 2001 Trinity College Symphonic Band CD, "Time After Time."
A respected teacher, he has taught composition, conducting, theory, trumpet, and piano, and his experience includes teaching at Wheaton, Trinity, Northwestern University and DePaul University, as well as privately. He is a member of the American Composers Forum, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers (CFAMC) and the Baptist Church Music Conference. Dr. Teichler is currently Associate Professor of Music and Director of zinstrumental Music at Tabor College (Hillsboro, KS). He and his wife Sarah have four beautiful children.
Depending on the gig and instrumentation, an appropriate set list will be proposed. Changes/alterations can be made if agreed on by all parties.
