Courtney’s journey into the music realm officially began when she picked up her first acoustic guitar named “Cathy” in 10th grade. She borrowed it from her aunt, who used to play with it as a teen in the 1970s.
With the lyrical and melody ideas overflowing in her head, she decided that by learning how to play guitar it would give her a better way to capture her songs. As a self-taught singer and guitar player, Courtney has created her own unique music style that combines elements of jazz chords with urban pop melodies, and occasional hip-hop/rap deliveries. When asked to describe her sound she says that artists such as LIGHTS, Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, Norah Jones, G-Eazy, Tori Kelly, and Kehlani have played influential roles in helping her discover her own musical niche.
Courtney has officially made her music debut with the release of her very first EP called, “Paper Thoughts,” which is currently available for purchase and streaming via iTunes, Soundcloud, and Spotify - to name a few. The creation of the Paper Thoughts EP began with a selection of Courtney’s top three favorite songs from her most recent songwriting journal that she had named, Paper Thoughts. When naming the EP, it seemed fitting to Courtney to use the journal name as the title of her debut EP as well. She recorded her songs at the Bay Area recording studio, The Grill, in Emeryville. While there, Courtney worked with producer Aagee, to really capture her blended, urban pop sound.
Following her EP release, Courtney is booking shows around the Bay Area for people and fans to hear new music. When she’s not working on music, Courtney enjoys spending her free time trying new fitness workouts or reading a new book.
