Born and raised in the Azores, Cristina came to the US after she graduated from high school. It was in the US where she was exposed to belly dance art. Since the first belly dance class, Cristina was hooked and continued exploring the dance, technique, musicality, and culture of the Middle East. She has studied with the best local belly dance teachers including Holly, Kanina, Phaedra, Shadia, and Aurel. In addition to learning about the dance, Cristina has spent some time learning about the music and how to play the doumbec & tambourine. When she is not performing, Cristina teaches ELL middle school students and teaches belly dance classes at Rhode Island College and at Infinity Studio in Warren, RI. As if that's not enough, she also organizes a monthly event, "Bellydancer's Night @ Terrazza", for local belly dancers and musicians network. Check out her facebook page for more information.
