Clients and band-mates can expect a drummer who fits the music first and foremost. I pride myself on being a "band drummer" - that means I'm not out to flash chops unless the music calls for it. I'm all about groove, a strong pocket, making sound artistic choices, and finding my place in the song so the group as a whole can shine.
My name is Dan and I've been playing drums for almost 30 years. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, I've been steadily playing, working, and teaching as a professional musician around the Mid-Atlantic area. My projects have spanned many genres and I pride myself on being able to meld with any style of music and listen to my fellow band-mates when performing. I love meeting new musicians and hope to work with you soon!
Some career highlights include:
-SXSW showcase and tour with renowned Baltimore indie group Eureka Birds.
-Studio sessions with Eureka Birds and acclaimed producer Tyler Watkins of Margot & the Nuclear So & So's, culminating in the album 'Strangers'.
-Hundreds of performances (and counting) with party band supergroup APS. Some highlights include performances at M&T Bank Stadium, FedEx Field, Massanutten ValleyFest, The Hamilton, MD Live! Casino, and Seacrets Main Stage.
-Performance with national act High Highs.
-Recordings and touring with Baltimore pop-punk bands Stupid Hero and Save The Empire.
-Appear on several recordings by psych-rock group Great Klons.
Nothing required - I can bring my own drums, equipment, and monitor.
Though the setlist will depend on the given event, I do know a ton of standard cover band songs, primarily from the 80s until today. Way too many to list here! I'm a super fast and efficient learner and will be dedicated to learning your songs accurately.
I'm influenced by so much musically, but some of my favorite drummers include:
Dave Grohl, Questlove, Chad Smith, Abe Cunningham, Ryan Pope, Travis Barker, Levon Helm, Rory O'Connor, Carter Beauford, and Anika Nilles.
In addition to rock and pop, I also love jazz, a wide variety of electronic music, and hip hop.
