Daniel Sage is a excellent example of the resiliency of the spirit. Born in a metropolitan area of 1.6 million people in North Carolina, USA called the Piedmont Triad, Daniel felt that the options to experience culture in his hometown were more resemblant of a small rural town. Thus his focus was turned to recorded music at an early age, heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, and Kurt Cobain, Sage’s style is timeless and unique. After an argument with his mother about a school project on African diamonds in 7th grade, Daniel was released from the traditional education system, and has been directing his own education since. Daniel picked up a Fender Stratocaster at age 13, and began traveling to New York City frequently to work for a not-for-profit organization that helps start democratic free schools ((link hidden)). Daniel’s first international travel experience was in 2007 to the United Kingdom and Russia, to speak about his experience as an autodidact, and remains involved with freedom in education. A couple of teenage garage bands later, major label interest was high in 2008. After realizing the new music industry would be independent, Daniel cut loose, and chose the name Daniel Sage after it was suggested by his guru, Jerry Mintz. Learning table tennis, he would go on to win the New York State Junior Open in 2010. Traveling in a diesel Mercedes-Benz run on vegetable oil, he found Memphis, TN, and began to develop a fruitful recording artist career that continues to haunt him. His first LP “Astronaut“ caught the attention of producer John Hampton (White Stripes, Replacements, Stevie Ray Vaughn) at Ardent Studios, eventually following it up with “Wildlife” in 2014. In between, Daniel spent time as a singing tour guide in Memphis, and recorded an album under the name “Gypsy Wildlife”, operating a beatnik vagabond lifestyle that continues to inspire him. Achieving modest commercial success in Western Europe, Daniel then withdrew into the wilderness to redefine his values, and clear his intent. Daniel is preparing to record his third album “Triad”, in Memphis TN, slated for release in May 2018 with a major European and African tour to follow.
