Danielle Reich sings the music of the 1920s, 30s, 40s & beyond. Danielle starts with a foundation of American Songbook favorites, then draws from an eclectic array of French chanson (à la Edith Piaf), gypsy jazz (à la Django Reinhardt), and jazz-interpreted pop ranging from Leonard Cohen to Radiohead to The Beatles.
Danielle performs solo, and with groups from a duo to an octet. Danielle also performs with Swing Rendezvous (gypsy jazz) and Boomtown Brass Band (New Orleans style “trad” jazz). She tailors her extensive repertoire to each event, and can include favorite standards, French, Spanish, and Italian songs, holiday tunes, and pop and country tunes performed in a jazz style.

Danielle is available to perform for weddings, private, and corporate events in configurations ranging from an intimate duo to an octet. She tailors her extensive repertoire and her band personnel to each event. The music can include favorite standards performed by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, and Billie Holiday, French, Spanish, and Italian songs, holiday tunes, and a selection of pop and country tunes performed in a jazz style. The combo can include any configuration of vocals plus guitar, upright bass, piano, violin, mandolin, drums, and horns.

Depending on the night of the week, you may hear vocalist Danielle Reich performing French chanson, Gypsy Jazz, Great American Songbook standards, New Orleans Trad Jazz, Western Swing, jazz-interpreted pop, or even avant-garde compositions. Danielle got her start with classical voice training, and after completing an opera degree in Florida, she began singing professionally in Texas with the Houston Grand Opera chorus. At the same time she began exploring jazz under the tutelage of Houston pianist, composer, and educator Joe Locascio.

Ten years later, Danielle was hosting a standing-room-only jazz jam in the Heights of Houston, founded with Houston guitarist Erin Wright and bassist Thomas Helton. From orchestras to a first time out at an intimate jazz jam, Danielle has enjoyed the support of many outstanding musicians as she has developed her organic interpretive style, expanded her repertoire, and engaged in an array of small groups that blur musical boundaries.

Danielle currently performs in Texas with Houston-based Swing Rendezvous (jazz manouche), Houston-based Boomtown Brass Band (New Orleans Hot Club), Austin-based Lady Be Good (Western Swing), and her own trio. She also performs in Washington with Bellingham-based Nuages and Seattle-based Swing Provence (both jazz manouche). Danielle has been a featured performer at the Manouche NW Concert Series, the Houston Composers Salon, and the Austin Jazz Festival. Danielle has performed new works with avant-garde composer/bassist Thomas Helton, a Houston Arts Alliance grant recipient, as well as performing experimental works for musicians and dancers with the Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble.

PA (speakers) adequate for venue is required for performance; band can provide, contact for rates. Adequate electricity, lighting and stage area must be available.
Artist will perform outdoors under certain conditions; this must be discussed prior to booking. Outdoor performances must be covered during the day and/or lit after dark, and there must be an indoor option in case of rain. Due to the delicate nature of equipment, artist cannot perform outside in temperatures below 65F or above 85F, unless adequate heat/cooling is provided. For safety reasons, outdoor stage area must be a dry, flat surface, cannot be lawn or dirt and cannot be wet.
Artist will perform during the agreed upon time frame. After the first hour of performance time, Artist requires a minimum 15 minute break per hour. If Client requests performance time beyond the agreed upon time frame, additional overtime payment will be required.
