An energetic and captivating show of original melodic rock songs. A 5-piece band led by husband and wife duo.
Day Like This is an independent melodic rock band from Thibodaux, Louisiana. Their music is a kaleidoscope of sounds similar to Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Led Zeppelin, and The Classic Crime. The band has a dedicated following in their area and is currently expanding its reach within and beyond South Louisiana. They are known for their dynamic live performance, songs that resonate in the soul, and intricate sound meticulously crafted by the five members' collaboration. An experience with Day Like This involves biting guitar riffs, awe-inspiring synthesizers, and soaring vocals, as well as beautiful melodies sung softly over rippling pads, and everything in between. Husband and wife Jean' (guitar, vocals) and Mandee Guillory (synth, vocals) trade off the lead à la Arcade Fire, with Roland Bennett (guitar), Joel Fussell (bass), and Chanse Benoit (drums) providing a chorus of backing vocals.
Day Like This was formed in 2011 with an acoustic guitar and a couple of songs, when Jean' and Mandee were both in college. It evolved into an almost-progressive rock outfit of five members by 2013. They released their debut EP, Carry On, in 2014. It has since gained airplay on Nicholls State University's radio station KNSU 91.5 FM, as well as local radio station Lifesongs, by which they were selected as one of five finalists in a radio competition. They have performed in cities such as Houma, Lafayette, New Orleans, Houston, and Jackson, including Morgan City's Shrimp & Petroleum Festival Gospel Stage and Houma's Relay for Life. Currently, the band is in pre-production to record its first full-length album and performing throughout the fall. The album will be recorded over winter and released in spring of 2016.
