I'm a Bay Area jazz/pop guitarist playing jazz, latin, pop, movie, r&b, theatre standards - and for those who love classic TV, TV Themes from some of your favorite shows! All in a surprisingly small space requirement. Perfect for private parties, corporate events, wineries, restaurants, and small venues. Expandable to duo or possible trio (an additional singer or horn player for example). I use digital technology to create the effects of a band, so although it's just me, it sounds like 4 or 5 of us on stage! I'm happy to share song lists or answer any questions, so do not hesitate to reach out just to ask. Thanks for visiting my page. - Dan
Dan was a great addition to my dinner for 35 people. He was very acomodating to our sound needs.
Dan was great in every way. A talented guitarist and musician, great communication and very professional in all ways. He was happy to play whatever we needed. Would definitely like to work with him again and would recommend. Thanks Dan!!
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Had a great time Samantha! And the food you sent me off with was AMAZING :). Thank you thank you and hope to work together again someday :)
Dan showed up on time with the proper equipment and fulfilled our expectations in terms of musical ability and attention to the flow of events. Great job.
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Thanks Lisa! I enjoyed meeting and your team. Regards - Dan
DC was an excellent choice for my dad’s very special 90th birthday party. The music choices were “spot-on” for the occasion - including some music from old sit-coms that we could guess the names of.
DC is very professional and skillful with the guitar.
Everything was great, his show created a nice atmosphere. The musician complied with the agreed schedule perfectly.
We are so happy to have had Dan play at our recent post-vaccination work gathering. He was a total pro, great at communication leading up to the event, his music was wonderful, and he even was willing to stay longer when we just weren't ready to say goodbye (it felt nice to have a little semblance of normalcy!)
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Thanks Katie. I really enjoyed myself, and the cool tour. Wishing you, Hunter and the company great continued success.
DC Jazz Guitar was such a great addition to my party, .Very much appreciated his punctuality, professionalism, and easygoing / fun vibe. As a singer myself, I also appreciated his openness to having me jump in w/ a song. I'd highly recommend DC the Jazz Guitarist !
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Thanks Anderson. After my long flight to return to town... You and your guests made it worthwhile. I enjoyed playing and having you sing a few tunes! Happy 50th.
Dan provided a great ambiance and music that had class, taste and worked for all age groups. His professionalism and musical skill was fantastic. I would contact him again for future needs. In addition his communication, friendliness and accessibility gave me the peace of mind that he would take care of my event. He communicated with me a few days before my event, and showed up about 1 hour prior to my event ready and eager to provide superb service. The next day my guest were complimenting his music and sound range.
Dan has been playing Jazz music along with friends at AKEMI Japanese restaurant in Berkeley, CA on most Fridays and some Saturdays for quite some time now and he has been nothing but amazing! Dan's complete setup is quick, convenient, and sounds great! My favorite part about working with him is his warm and approachable personality. I'd definitely recommend Dan for your live music needs!
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Thank you Jenni. You help make the experience wonderful!
Dan was spot on. Two avenues for review. 1.) Professionalism. This guy was Johnny on the spot with being responsive and accurate about his services. He was on schedule and delievered.
2.) As a musician Dan was an absolute treat. The consummate jazz guitarist he was everything this cocktail party needed. I look forward to booking him again
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Thank you again Rickey. It was an absolute pleasure to perform! Cheers
Dan and his friend Keith came and performed for us at a PG&E wildfire basecamp. They were awesome, Keith brought not only his Sax but his flute & it was a good opportunity for all of the people assigned to the fire response to kick back and enjoy dinner. I would recommend them in the future!
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
It was our pleasure to try and provide some relief for the many hours all the workers are putting forth for those affected in the fires. Thanks for choosing DC Jazz :)
We absolutely enjoyed having DC Jazz preform at our event this past weekend! He was such an entertainment and we highly recommend him for any of your music needs! Thank you again, Dan!
Dan provides classic tunes with a classy touch. He's perfect for setting an elegant tone at any event.
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Thank you Leslie!
I am a musician (drummer) with an extensive background in jazz as well as pop, rock, blues, and standards. I have heard Dan play numerous times at various venues, and he is great! Mainly classic jazz and standards, plus contemporary tunes in his "Wes Montgomery-esque" style. Plus, he's a really great guy, very personable. Hire this guy, you won't be disappointed!!
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Thanks Ringo...
Dan always provides a non intrusive sensitive ambiance to any party, gathering or event. Highly recomended. K
Response from DC Jazz Guitar:
Thanks Keith! You da best...

I believe I offer a very unique offering. The sound of a full band, yet with (typically) only one live musician - me!
I utilize a sophisticated backing track/rhythm section in which I typically play the melody and improvise over the changes. On request, I also perform with other musicians from singers, to horn players and other combo setups. Best of all, I believe, is the small space I occupy - thus making this perfect for small venues, private parties, corporate events, office events, wineries, restaurants, and more.
I'm very professional in my dealings with my clients and the audience. I take great pride in arriving in a timely fashion to ensure plenty of time to set up and perform. Depending on the requests, I perform a large catalog and can often handle a few requests as well. I'm happy to go over song lists with clients ahead of time to customize the songs to the event or crowd.
In the end, you are getting the sound of a full band, with the price of one (talented) musician. It's easy on nearly any budget ranging anywhere from 1-3 hours per booking, once again depending on the type of event you are planning.
In addition to playing guitar, I'm also a Professional golf coach, FORE! I grew up on '60s and 70's music (Beatles, Pop, Jazz) and also was raised with a love of musicals. I play a variety of songs from several generations and genres, taking classic pop, folk, TV themes, Classic Rock songs and putting jazz or Bossa Nova flair to them. I pride myself on choosing crowd favorites and fun tunes for people of all ages. From Disney to The Pink Panther to Peter Frampton to the Beatles to Cole Porter, I cover a wide gamut of brilliant music. I hail from the Midwest but have been in Northern California since 1995. I'm married to my beautiful partner Monica and we share our family of children and dogs.
I hope you'll take a moment to learn more or feel free to ask me any questions about my music and your event.
I utilize either a small yet powerful JBL Bluetooth Speaker system and/or a small PA system for my general setup.
Typically I just need to be near some electrical outlets, often setting up in a corner or staging area. I don't require special lighting. My setup is pretty simple and straightforward.
My setup includes PA System (Speaker/s), Amplifier, Mics, Mic Stand, Music Stand, Chair, and various chords. Setup time ranges from 15 minutes to 30 minutes for larger settings (requiring more equipment).

Many great jazz artists. Top of the influential list would be guitarists Wes Montgomery, Earl Klugh, George Benson, and Joe Pass, Pat Martino, Peter Sprague, Kenny Burrell, and many others. I have a great love of the Beatles, the compositions of Jobim, Gershwin, Cole Porter, and all the great songwriters of the 30's-70's including movies and Broadway hits. If bebop is your thing, Charlie Parker is the man and a huge influence. I love playing pop and TV Theme songs with a jazz tilt. My father is a tremendous composer in his own right and I often will perform some of his material. My influences are quite varied, from Hard Rock n Roll like The Who to an Elton John or Billy Joel, to a John Mayer, to Antonio Carlos Jobim (Bossa Nova/Samba) to some classical and so on.
