Deborah Crooks Band

Up to three hours of original acoustic-based roots/Americana music with a mix of blues, rock and traditional cover songs performed by an acoustic duo, trio or band. Can play electric as well as acoustic, amplified or unplugged. The East Bay Express described Deborah's music as "...a more diverse take on Americana with a distinctly female tone, and quite charming."

California songwriter Deborah Crooks' lyric-driven and soul-wise music draws on folk, rock and Americana, and is often compared to Lucinda Williams and The Cowboy Junkies. Her music ventures into everything from funk and reggae to the blues, reflecting her expansive and eclectic tastes, a sound which has evolved over her years studying writing and poetics at The Naropa Institute, voice with Chloe Goodchild and Mysore V. Amba Prasad (India), and cowriting and collaborating with her Bay Area peers. She’s released several CDs and EPs of critically noted original music, including 2016's Beauty Everywhere, the acclaimed 2013 release, Little Bird, and had her music featured on the PBS Series Road Trip Nation and Songwriters From the Fog Compilation V1. In 2014, she cofounded the band Bay Station with Kwame Copeland, which released its third CD, Other Desert Cities, in April.
