Thank you for showing interest in my photography work. Let me introduce myself and provide you with a snapshot of who I am as a person and photographer. My name is Derek Halkett and I am currently residing in Woodstock, Connecticut with my wife Samantha and our two children, Aubrey and Jacob. I specialize in wedding and lifestyle photography and work throughout the New England area. I am passionate about photography and developing my craft each and every time I am behind the camera. WHAT I AM…

First and foremost, I am a dedicated family man, they are my world and I am fortunate to have a beautiful family. In terms of my photography, I am always working tirelessly to capture details, emotion and moments that are often times missed or forgotten. I am passionate about my photography work and I try to improve my work each and every time I pick up a camera. I am trained and educated in photography and pride myself on being a consummate professional that treats each and every couple and family with the utmost respect.

WHAT I AM NOT…

I am not like every other photographer out there and I like it that way, and I hope you do as well. I work very hard to have my own style and uniqueness that many of my couples are looking for.

STYLE & VISION…

I think of my style as being a happy blend of fine-art and fashion wedding photography with a photojournalistic flair thrown into the mix. I am obsessed with not being ordinary and will always attempt to avoid the mundane. In the end, I don’t think that I can define my style. I think that my style (what ever it may be) will find me.

MY PROMISE TO YOU…

In my humble opinion, photography is the single most important investment on your wedding day. Capturing those fleeting moments in a tasteful and stylish manner allows couples to relive their wedding day for the rest of their lives. What I offer is an experience; one that I feel is superior to other photographers. From the moment you contact me to the end of your wedding day, all of my energy will be focused on exceeding your expectations. I limit my wedding bookings to 25 per year so that I can give the proper attention to each and every wedding couple. I like to summarize this by offering the old adage; quality over quantity, which is very important to me.
