Desert Rhythms is comprised of 11 women and has been performing in Rochester for over 30 years. Intermixing cabaret, tribaret, Egyptian and tribal fusion styles and incorporating various props such as canes, swords and veils, our troupe is known for it's innovative and sophisticated choreography. Performances may be with the entire troupe or a few dancers- pricing adjusted accordingly.

An audience member can expect a tasteful and beautiful performance of Middle Eastern Dance. We offer group dances, trios, duets, small group dances, solos. We offer dances with all types of props such as sword , cane, wings, fans, fan veils, veils, finger cymbals. We teach dance classes and workshops. A workshop can range from 1 to 3 hours. A belly dance workshop party will give basic steps and dance instruction and a choreographed dance will be learned. We dance in many Middle Eastern styles, from ancient to modern. We can tailor a show to suit your needs.
Desert Rhythms is a performing dance troupe located in Rochester, NY that has been performing for over 30 years. The troupe consists of women brought together by the love of Middle Eastern dance, music and rhythms, who respect each others' talents. The troupe performs at numerous show and festivals throughout upstate NY. The troupe offers classes in the fall and winter, all dance performances are tailored to suit the audience and situation. Each dance is an original, collaboratively choreographed piece with some including the use of props: veils, swords, canes, candles, fans, wings, finger cymbals. Performances can feature group dances with the full troupe, smaller group dances, duets, trios, or solos. We can teach a workshop that includes learning a choreographed piece for your guests. We strive to provide a unique entertaining experience our audience will remember. Videos can be viewed on our website.
We bring our own sound system, if sound is provided by the site or customer a sound check will be needed.

Since we tailor the show to suit the customer, a set list can be provided for each show. We are a repertoire company so our set list changes as we add new dances.
Because we are such a big troupe and such a long lived troupe, it is hard to say. I would venture that we have many influences. Rachel Brice, Zoey Jakes, Ansuya, Suhaila, Saidi, just to name a few. We all love the fame and attention that The Bellydance Superstars have lent our beloved form of dance.
