Detroit Imagination Works is a non-profit art and outreach collective that provides hands-on workshops and entertainment such as painting, juggling, puppet-making, and sculpture projects. We host a pop-up "Creation Station" for community events, social events, and private events and parties. Proceeds go towards materials and the operations of the non-profit, which provides underprivileged youth with the opportunity to experience and practice visual and performing arts.
Detroit Imagination Works was a huge hit at the DIY Street Fair's Kid Zone. Kids were having a blast with hands on creative activities. It was a wonderful addition to our event and we look forward to having DIW back for future events.
Admittedly, I didn't hire D.I.W.--I have been at a variety of events where they brought their various types of "creation stations," and I have been inspired to participate myself.
Price Range: $75 and up
Gig Length: 60 - 480 minutes

To bring DIW to your event, we need information such as event, expected attendance, budget information, desired activity, etc. Our various Our fun and friendly staff arrive a half an hour early with all the materials necessary to run whatever activity was specified in our agreement. Payment should be completed at that time. We will communicate all of our needs and specifications to you prior to the event, to ensure a smooth set-up. We run the activity and each participant gets to take their project with them, along with the knowledge of how to do the activity at home! We start clean-up promptly at the end of our time, and clean any mess made on the way out!
Our non-profit began in December 2015 with the intention of normalizing art in the everyday lives of Detroit citizens. Since then, we have run our pop-up Creation Station at many social and community events, collaborated with other non-profit and co-op organizations, and provided entertainment at children's events.
Depending on the activity, we may need access to electricity. Depending on the weather (for outdoor events) we may need access to additional shelter (although we do have a 10x10 pop-up tent). Most activities can be run within a 10x10 area. A location to hang our banner is also appreciated!
Many of our activities are family fun, and encourage parental involvement. We sometimes use tools or materials that children of certain ages cannot operate or handle without assistance (hot glue gun, sharp scissors, etc). We will provide as much help as is needed to ensure the safety and entertainment of all our participants.
