Glenn Sulley
Glenn Sulley was born and raised in Newfoundland, an island located on the eastern coast of Canada. His musical roots stem from both of his parents, his mother was a singer and his father played guitar. As a young boy, he sang in church and in his grade school choir. It wasn’t until ninth grade, that he got interested in learning to play the guitar and writing songs. “My father taught me two chords, and in a short time, I managed to teach myself the rest.”
As a teenager, he was lead singer for several pop and rock and roll bands, and acted and sang in various musical theater shows. As a young adult, he toured and recorded with an Irish Celtic band, “The Clancy’s.” He also performed solo gigs throughout eastern and central Canada. He has performed the “Star Spangled Banner” on national T.V. for the NBA, NHL, and the (WTA) Women’s Tennis Association. He has written and performed several radio and T.V. commercial jingles, both in Canada and throughout Oklahoma. He has won two “Silver Mike” awards for local (Oklahoma) and national jingle work, received “honorable mention” in two national songwriting contests, and many of his original compositions have been performed and recorded by various musicians, both in the U.S. and Canada. Recently, one of his original songs was published in “Chalice Praise”, a contemporary Christian songbook. Several of his original songs, also appear on a compilation he recorded with local Christian band, "Walking Temple." His most recent project was a recording of original music, titled, “Glory Road.” He recorded this CD with his music partner, David Sisson.
He is currently the “band/worship leader” for the contemporary service at First Christian Church in Edmond. He lives in Oklahoma City, with his two sons, Colton and Cooper, and wife and fellow singer, Jillian. Glenn, Jillian and David currently perform as a trio at venues within the Oklahoma City area under the name, Sulley and Sisson.
Glenn is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University and is employed at OU Physicians as an RN in Urology.
David Sisson
Born Oklahoma City Oklahoma, February 25, 1951, David attended Edmond public schools and graduated in 1969 Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music, Piano Performance (with minors in voice and woodwinds) from Central State University (Oklahoma). He then attended Boston University, Masters Program, where he studied piano with European concert pianist Leonard Shure. He returned to Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma University College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1990. He has been a practicing attorney since.
David started playing piano at age 4. His mother was a piano teacher and father a band director and woodwind instructor. It was a musical upbringing! As a young boy, he played a lot of piano in church... in fact, all the Sunday school classes! He got his first bass guitar at 13, and later switched to Hammond organ, playing in local bands through high school.
Following his music education at Central State where his Dad was the chairman of the music department, he went to the east coast for his post-graduate education and spent a year or so studying with the late Leonard Shure, at Boston University and Harvard University. Soon after that he hooked up with a friend from home and went on the road, where David played rock and roll for years.
David Sisson was privileged to be associated with many, many great musicians, some of them famous, including members of Loggins & Messina, Gary Morris, Tanya Tucker, Firefall, Michael Martin Murphy, the Dirt Band, and the great producer Beau Hill (Ratt.) He served as music director/arranger/pianist/background vocalist for Glenn Yarbrough (“Baby the Rain Must Fall”) in concerts and folk music reunions across the United States and Canada, and toured with other artists such as the Limeliters, the Kingston Trio and Mary Travers.
Eventually David returned home. He continued his piano playing at a local hotel/dining room for several years, while completing law school. Even after becoming a full time lawyer with a family, he continued to play at every opportunity. David currently attends the First Christian Church of Edmond, Oklahoma, where he met Glenn Sulley, a Canadian with a great voice. Since then, they have done many projects, including our recording, “Glory Road” (available on iTunes.) They are currently performing as a duo or a trio with vocalist Jillian Sulley, and in his featured Neil Diamond Tribute.
